We need one. Anyone skates? Share some pictures of your board! I don't currently have my deck, but I'll post a picture when I'm back in Europe (finally leaving the states after 5 months). I did get the chance to get some stuff for my board here though; spitfire wheels and supreme griptape

I think the surfing thread is in skigabber as well, that's why I put it here

Shouldn't this be in non ski gabber?

I just started skating this past summer. I was a total poser as a teenager, and chalked it up to being too big and goofy to skate. Now at age 28, I'm learning to drop in, ollie, and cruise with all the 13yr olds at my hometown skatepark. Its frustrating as hell when I slam then see a little dude in elementary school show me up, but it's always fun as fuck. I especially enjoy cruising the bowls/ riding transitions. With no snow in SW CO, it looks like ill be skating well into February! Maybe by next summer Ill be riding the deep end of the bowl!

When I'm pushing around town I ride a 10" cruiser: https://www.instagram.com/p/BXx2KaPnpwX/?taken-by=searching_for_freshies

At the park I ride a shaped 9"3/8x32" Streetplant with Indy trucks: https://www.instagram.com/p/BZ8w7QInSQ5/?taken-by=searching_for_freshies But my 80HD spitfire wheels are too soft, so I'm looking into getting something harder so I can SKRRRT SKRRRT.

Lolwut. It's def in NSG. skigrabber = ski gabber = skiing.

I skate. But 85% of my skating is to go check the surf. I huck 360's of basically every driveway, can heelflip, and hit the park up every now and then. My skating extremely surf influenced.

Well ok then, I ride a 7.75 enjoi no-brainer, all I can do are, shuv, pop shuv, FS and bs 180s and kickflips (all on flat) and drop in, rock fakie, I did a feeble stall once and bs wily (all mini) My grinds aren't to great and the biggest thing I've ever Ollied was a 4 stair...

I ride an 8.16 deck this guy at my local park made. I started out just riding transition but I’ve been getting really into street recently. Hill bombing is my favorite shit. Honestly I like skating more than skiing atm

I skate a 7.5 shop deck atm, like 10-year-old spitfire 52's, an assortment of bearings that spin okay, and mob grip but its way too grippy so I sanded it down a bit. Just started skating for real about a month and a half ago and I've got my ollies pretty solid, fs 180's like 3/10 tries, half-cab like 5/10 tries, just landed a couple bs 180's today, shuvs, pop shuvs, and nollie shuvs, boneless and fs 180 boneless and some random shit when I get tired of grinding for a trick too long. Skating has been super fun so far, I can't wait til the weather gets better so I can go to one of the local parks and meet some homies.

Jeez all you guys saying you skate 7.75s need to step into 2018. I skated 7.75s, and prior to that 7.5s because I have small feet. But switching to an 8.25 and staying around there was the best thing I ever did. 7.75 is like trying to land on a toothpick. I've been skating for like 15 years or so. Very few things are factual but riding a wider board is very close to being objectively better.

I do run slightly skinny trucks on 1/8" risers for dat turn response/lack of wheelbite though.

I have an 8.25 Welcome, minilogo wheels, reds bearings, independent trucks. I started skating this summer, and can now land ollies, fakie shoves both ways, fs fakie 3 shoves. Still can’t kickflip. I can make the board flip but can only land on it with one foot.

Learned how to drop in and shred pipe a little bit. I want to land kickflips and learn more pipe tricks this summer.

I like this thread. Just copped an 8.35 Flatspotter deck which has been sick. I’ll post pics later but I’ve got it set up with independent trucks, spitfire wheels and red bearings. Tore my ACL so skating again is what I’ve got to look forward too again

I used to skate a lot of vert at an indoor park from like 4th grade to middle school and was starting to learn airs and getting on the coping of the18 foot deep end of a bowl. The park closed bc of financial issues and I stopped skating because no other parks nearby had any tranny. This past summer I got back into it and was progressing flat ground and small gaps way faster than when I was little. I ended up spraining both my ankles on two separate occasions and kind of stopped again. I somehow was fine surfing with my ankle so ended up doing that instead. I’m totally gonna end up getting back into it this summer anyway though and will just have to try to be more careful.

Started skating after I was sad in the summer from not being able to ski. Started out shitty but a few years later I can cruise some transitions, drop in, rock and roll, Ollie up, over, and down things, got some shuvs and 180s, and am learning to boardslide and 50-50

Had the same thought coming into here. Anything under 8 and "toothpick" is definitely an accurate description. I've even got buddies riding 8.6's

locked in kickflips last night while skating in the garage. I ride a 9"3/8

Faction CT2.0 8.25 deck, Spitfite wheels, Supreme griptape Independent trucks. Bearings I don't remember, they were relatively cheap.

I'm really bad though

It's limited edition, they were sold out in one day. Also they had a give away where they gave away three decks of all CTskis

Limited edition decks like this are always sick. Actually bought an OG Jiberish deck that I loved but managed to snap it pretty quick.

Agreed, shame of your deck though. Still have pictures of it?

Been skating for like two years now, snapped my baker right before ski season so i bought some shitty board for cheap and now that my hill closed im just skating super hard so i can break the shit out of it. Im really lucky because theres a real nice indoor park less than 20 minutes away from me (Ollies Skatepark, if you've heard of it) and a lot of local skateparks. and close to downtown cincinnati with surplus of street spots. definitely would recommend to someone who sits around all summer watching ski edits. on some bones 55, prolly about 50 now. reds bearings and indys always

If i could i would transfer all my skiing skills to skate boarding. But that would probably only put me at kickflip level. Skating is so damn hard and i love it that it is. The almost limitless trick options is refreshing. To progress in skiing you just have to get ballsier and ballsier, and thats not nescecarlly true for skating atleast not as quickly

That’s so true. Skating requires waaay more skill than skiing.

I personally love how pure the talent pool is. Anyone can go out and buy a skateboard and become good at skating, which makes the playing field even. The same can’t be said for skiers. There are kids throwing dubs and trips who wouldn’t be doing so without the elite tampoline and airbag training that their parents pay for. There’s nothing wrong with that, but it makes it way harder for equally talented kids to get good when they don’t have the same opportunities.

skating>skiing. Even though I’m better at skiing than skating, I like skating better for the reasons I stated above. Skating has a less douchy attitude too imo.

Skating is infinitely cooler and better than skiing. The accessibility matters so much, skating isn't determined by money. Skating also has the strongest and healthiest checks and balances on whats wack and not wack. If you are doing something wack- you will be told and shut down. That why skating is able to maintain and stay legit, its built on traditional values and such a strong core group, while still allowing room for creativity. Another thing that i think is great about skating is that skate culture associated its self with art culture as well.

Skiing isnt that classy

Couldn't say it any better

Can barely walk anymore. Shattered my toenail yesterday whilst skating. It looked so fucked when I took of my shoe and saw the bloody sock

Is there a newschoolers size forum for skateboarding?

SLAP Magazine Forums.

Little different layout/less moderated (get ready to see some dicks)/ but very very funny and informative

Honestly I just use Vans, side of my left shoe is getting pretty beat up by all the ollies though

Sides of my slip-on vans are literally just holes. I’ve been so damn impressed with the skate tie on the matchcourts. Doesn’t protect everything obviously but I don’t think I’ll ever skate another shoe.

Ah yeah. I totally get your point, but you shouldn't skate slip-ons though. Only good vans for skating are the promodels, don't think slip-ons have a promodel

Anyone know if EU airports are chill with skating? They don't really give a fuck in the US (only got shit from security once at PDX) but I'm curious about paris and oslo

I know a guy and first they warned him and then he did it again in another part of the airport and they took it, not sure where in Europe this was though
