i started playing with a go pro and am starting to figure out how to use fcp

anything would be helpful

I thought it was pretty good, but don't make your edits longer than 3 or 4 minutes. Viewers start to lose interest at around that time.
 
This. Also when using the GoPro make sure there isn't any smudges or anything on the lens, because this can get really annoying. And work on your render settings! Good luck.
