Sorry for another question about ski size...but...i'm about 5'10, 150 lbs and do not have much experience in freeskiing (but am wanting to learn)...should the skis i pick be around 170?

dude it all depends on what kind of skier you are. If you are really good but just haven't tried park stuff, etc, I say get those, even bigger if you want. It is about skill and control. I have a friend who weighs 150 who skis 205s for fun ;) Some of the littlest people (candide, simon dumont, vinnie d.) throw down on 180+ skis. If you want to work on spins and stuff, maybe stick with the 170 or lower.

dont tell him to get bigger skis if he wants to learn park! its much easier to learn park on shorter skis. You only want long skis if you're not in teh park at all or if you rip the park up already

170 is prolly about right.........nothing bigger for sure. I have a pair of 170 skis and I weight 185 :) But my main skis are 178. Good luck and welcome to skiing.

Yeah I'm a decent skier i guess...i just haven't really done much in the park...that's why i thought that I should maybe try something shorter

dont go super short though.................

whos in da house, SACA is in the house!!! hahahahmuhahahah

rodeo5, I was just saying if he was a good skier. I have a friend who is an amazing skier but doesn't like the park, but can still throw 360's on 195's. Just giving him the options :D

what about me i'm 5 foot 5 and i will prob grow an inch or two durinf the summer what size should i get

Are you trying to be stupid?

If I am will it get me out of class earlier?

170 sounds good. and liconlloop, simon and vinnei don't use 180+skis. Simon had 161 1080s at the US Open or X games. and vinnie uses his 169 model. not that it has anything do with this post...ok I'll stop now

yay 4 skiing

YOUR ALL FUCKING PUSSIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

170 is the lowest you should go, who cares if you can spin 1/16 of a milla second faster, landing and shit, plus sking the rest of the mountain is way easier on longer skis. Plus because of the rear tip, the skis will like like 5-10cm shorter than a non-twintip, but there is that extra weight, which is good for balancing your spins. Take it from 5'9 Tanner who skis on 180s and 5'9 Candide who skis on 181s, and basically every good skier out there. 170 is the lowest you should go, i'd advise going for 175-180s, you'll thank me later.

^You are a moron. Insulting a person (esp a beginner) for going with a smaller ski due to size, terrain, skill, or comfort level is nothing but sheer pig-headedness. Yes, those who are paid to do nothing but ski ride on boards much longer than needed. They are also paid professionals. Most of us will never have their level of skill and ski just for fun. Besides, if you define a person who is 5'9 on anything under 175-180 as a pussy, is a person like me (6'4, 195) a pussy for riding a 193?

yeah with twins the tails give you less running surface by about 5-7cm so if you are using these skis to ride all-mtn you should get a longer pair 175-180cm. But it really depends on you, i'm 5'10, 145 and i ride 175 pocket rockets and had a pair 177 cussons so around that length is good

The only reason why I can ski a 193 where I am (Mid-Atlantic) is because they have a narrower waist (76). If I was skiing, say, the PE, a 180 would be good enough for me on my home terrain, although I would definitely need a 190-195 elsewhere.

Whistlermann you're an idiot. No one cares if you work in a shop...............so do lots of kids here. I work in a shop too, been around skiing prolly for a lot longer than you have. The kid is LEARNING........he doesn't need long skis. Stop being a FACKIN retard.
