When I went to buy new skis the dealer asked me what id be doin most....I said park and some big mountain....Then he told me that i can ride a ski from about head level to about mid-chest. I though about mid-chest for a little while and asked him if there would be less control of the ski at that size. He didnt give me a straight anwser but it sounded like he was goping towards no. Now i have a pair of ski's that are between the tip of my nose to my upperlip.Ive concidered taking them back but im really not sure..Do you think the size i got is bad? Im 15 and still getting taller and dont wanna get screwed over half way through the season..

 
I think that's a fine size for you.........how fast do you ski?? What skis are they? The reason I ask, often times skis that are wider underfoot don't need to be as long, depending on what you use them for. If you ski pretty fast, you might want to consider something a little longer.

Let us know what size they are and the ski type...that would help.

 
Ask for some charts, or search for some. Weight is most important. Size your twintips just like you would any other ski.

 
The ski's are atomic freezones 163cm..When i bought them they were a little bit abouve the tip of my nose but ive grown about an inch since then. I do ski pretty fast and thats one of the reason i was looking to see if there was a longer version..Im 5'11 and between 130 and 150lbs...

ya man you are taller than me and i am skinny and ride 176, you should definately go bigger and i would say get a more well known ski atomic freezones arent very popular, im not saying go by how popular they are but i just dont no how well those skis are, anyway they are your skis and its your choice

get long skis. mount close the middle too. im 5'4 125lbs and had concept178 now ski on Pubs 179 its way better. I skied 161 until Belan & LaRose convicted me to buy bigger ones(larose's). You can land & ride soo much better switch and adjustin' is easy. your call though.

yeah that's a little short, look in the 175 range, 180 range. Don't listen to mommy, he's a dumb ass. You don't need skis over your head.

 
5'11!, yea those are way too short for ya. look into more of a 176-200 range. i am 5'7, 140 and ride 173. so basically go for something bigger, it's good to see someone buying a ski other than 1080 or scratch but those are too short.

Im getting so many differnt views...Im gunna be in the park 95% of the time. I was thinking getting like a eye level ski I though that would be a better size. Slopestyle with sum pipe that stuff....

^^^^^I COMPLETELY disagree with the dudes above. If you're 5'11' you're 180cm tall, that means that eye level is 175 which is perfect for a park ski. Over your head would be 185 range, completely unecessary. Don't give me that bull shyte about 'oh twins take 5cm off the running lenght'. Skis today are designed to be stiff and rigid laterally which will add to stability. There's no need to have a freakin park ski that's over your head. Big Mountain, sure.....I can see it, but not a park ski. Get a 175 or 180 at the longest.

 
Well I bought my park skis last season (twoards the end) and there are no skiers at my resort that skied the park really so I didn't know how long to get them I didn't have anything to ask. So when the industry demo came to my mountain I tried all the sizes of tons of skis. I like the 161cm Spaceframe 1080's the best. Why I don't know they just felt the best. I'm 5'9.5 and 150 pounds. And people give me shit about my short skis but I tell them all to fuck off its not a pissing contest. Ski with what you like and demo everything don't take anyones advice but your own. everyone has completly different riding styles and preferences

I know it may not help much but, ski what you are comfortably with. If you have always skied a smaller ski, then ski a smaller ski, and vice versa. There are going to be advantages and disadvantages to both.

everyone speaks of height........weight is a more important factor. Ice-is-scary has it right, I think. You peops that ski skis longer than you are missing out unless you're heavier. You're buying more ski than you need.

Is anyone else sick of this debate?

 
Im 5'5 and on 170's, but I rode freezones 2 years ago and they were total crap.

Demo different lengths if you can, but i personally like a ski at least about my hieght or maybe taller, i think a longer ski definately helps with all mtn, and i also like it in the park so id go with a longer one

jezz well i rode park on 174 before and that was pretty confortable...i should just change that name of this thread to 'Big or Little skis?'

 
atomis frezones arent even a park ski are they? the back isnt tweaked at all if they are
