Size for SFB's

Sup guys.

After trying to decide between a few options for some all mountain/pow skis, I have finally narrowed down and am gonna go for the new SFB's (especially after seeing EP crushing the deep pow on them in some of the Nimbus vids)

Anyways, I'm hoping to go pick a pair up today, but i'm not convinced what size is right for me. I hear they run small, and are effectively smaler with the early rise. I'm 5'6'' 120, so i'm a pretty small dude, but I grew up racing and would consider myself to be an "expert" level skier. I was leaning towards the 178.. anyone suggest otherwise?

Eh, judging by the small amount of rocker on them, no I wouldn't go with the 184, 178 sounds like it would give you some good stability while still being maneuverable and playful.
 
Yep I just literally bought myself a pair of the 178's. Super excited about them. The sales attendant further confirmed that the 178 would be best as the 172 might be a little small. Hopefully you guys agree.
 
So yeah.. i'm slightly worried that the 178 might be a little on the long side, and that maybe the 172 would be best for my size? 5'6, 120lb, 'expert' skiing level.

Can anyone lay my worries to rest?
 
i would say you made the right choice with the 178. being that they are a more centered mounted and ski and have rocker they will ride shorter. especially if you are advanced your gonna love them. my buddy rides the 184 and he is 510 175. they measure about 180cms
 
178 for sure. it will be easier than the 184. not that u couldnt ski the big one. its just more ski than u need.
 
there's no "best" for your size

i'd say you made the right choice given the description of you and your skiing style. if you'd said you like to play around a lot on the mountain and get buttery and creative or whatever, the 172 might have been better. i wouldnt sweat it though you'll have a blast on those 178s
 
I am a bit over six feet tall, one hundred and sixty pounds and have the 184s and am definitely feeling like i need more ski under me, they ski super short. You will be fine with the 178s.
 
Saw a pair of 178's in a shop the other day & thought they were 172's. Line skis are measured out pretty short in general. If you're gonna be shredding pow I think you'll like that added length.
