Six passengers demand €350 M for Costa Concordia crash

So, last week the shipping company which owned the now half-sunken cruise ship Costa Concordia, offered to pay €11,000 to each passenger for compensation, not including the amount they will surely pay for the families of the deceased.

However, six passengers who were on the boat, demand

350 MILLION EUROS. To just themselves.

Not to play the stereotype game again... but take a wild guess what country these passengers hail from?
 
probably america...but lets be real. If they have that kind of money for that high powerful of a lawyer. And they actually can pull that off? Well than the jokes on all of us because they have an insane amount of money now. Who knows, maybe they had way more valuable stuff that $11,000 on them which is highly possible. The fact of the matter is, when people fuck up that badly, regardless of fault or whatever, there is always people who are going to punish them
 
The cruise line is offering the 11k as just overall compensation, plus of course an amount to cover any possible possessions that were lost and also the loss of any possible lost income during the event.
 
America? But when there all rich as fuck from this I don't think they'll give a fuck what you think about them^ like above stated
 
what exactly are they suing for? Doesn't sound like they have personal injury, lost profits? they're already going to be covered. trauma? they'll be examined and that won't fly. loss of possessions? being covered. food being served on board led to their obesity? maybe..

sure doesn't sound like they'll get a penny. plus it would no doubt go through European courts where hopefully they won't take that sort of bullshit.
 
They sued the company's Miami Headquarters, it's the mother company that owns and operates the cruise lines.

It's not even the fact that they probably won't get much of nothing out of this thing, or maybe settle something out of court, but the fucking audacity to try and get rich from this, monetize a horrible accident where people lost their lives, while these people are still alive and kicking, already getting compensations.

It's just disgusting to even attempt something like this.

They should probably take the 11k they are being offered because a lot of lawyers analyzing this on American news are saying they have little or no precedent to sue and win in Italy and they certainly will never win the 350m. Once they lose that suit they won't be applicable for the orginal offer, at least they wouldn't be in American court (I know nothing about Italian court besides the disgusting Amanda Knox farse)

Frankly the cruise line is being generous offering the 11k they probably could offer nothing and lose a lot less even if a few folks one independent lawsuits

Again I know nothing about Italian courts but it would seem the captain is much more responsible than the parent company, sue his ass privately, if he gets convicted of a crime it should be easy.

they imply that there IS a sum that could make them forget this thing. 11k times 4000 is already a lot of money (44,000,000). dont forget that the company lost a ship too (i am not sure wether the insurance will pick that one up and you can only seize so much money from the captain) valued at idk how many millions.

no shitstorm implied, but american laws have DEM HOLES. seriously, 350 million? every judge east of nova scotia would laugh at your fucking face. like straight towards your face and probably send you to a lunatic asylum.
 
I still don't know how it will work seeing as they sued the Miami-based Carnival Cruise Lines, which owns Costa Cruise Lines, we'll see.

But the thing here definitely is the money demand, and the sheer amount of what-the-fuck and why they would be entitled to even one 10000th of their asking price. They know that suing the captain wouldn't get them anything, it's not like he'd be able to pay off any large sums, or that they even care who goes down for what, they just wanted to try and cash in on tragedy.

And again, why I'm saying this country thing, not applicable to everyone of course, but there are just so many of these ridiculously high compensation demands in court cases in the US.

I looked into buying a cruise ship, one built from the late 60's. It was in the Black Sea right now in some shipping port, I forget which country it was. But I knew if I somehow got financing for the 120M Euro vessel (which in America I probably would have got the funding if I lied about a few things like my age and income) then I know that I would have been the captain and been drunk fucking my passengers on the bridge and would have crashed probably within the first 8-10 hours. I would not refund anyone anything, except the hot girls I'd buy drinks for as the ship was going down. I was going to call my line something catchy and sexual at the same time, like Herpes but then this crash was a major set back to my idea......

This is completely about what country the passengers are from, because of the stereotypically vast amount of reparations these six people are going for over nothing, which, like said, is what the world knows that happens often in the US.

I don't know why you have to get so butthurt over these things lately. Finland has a shitload of ignorant and disrespectful fucks, I've never denied that or said otherwise.

Stereotypes are livid for a reason, sometimes motivated by the wrong reasons, but real nonetheless, be it in lesser or larger extent.

I've merely been a bit proactive lately in bringing out differences between the US and other countries, in multiple issues. But those are my fucking opinions. Me being Finnish is me being Finnish, I was born here by arbitration, silly lines drawn on Earth. What's wrong with that? I'm as unpatriotic as I come, I don't love "my country", but there are many things done here, and around Western Europe, that differ a lot from your ways - at least, stereotypically.

What's with this attention bullshit? I don't get it.

 
We need a way for the american people to sue the people that are suing for this fucking stupid shit. I say if you lose your dumb case, you are completely responsible for the cost of running the court. I can't stand how these assholes waste hundreds of millions of dollars each year of tax payers money, because their fucking Mcdonalds coffee was too "hot" and no one told them.

America brings everything on itself, so don't get so upset when people point out the ludicrous fucking things your country produces and does on a daily basis. There are threads about fucking cousins, NHL games, pictures of mindfucks, sinking ship puns - threads literally about taking massive dumps more popular in posts, views or appearance on the first page than anything I've ever posted.

Im not saying you should go out of your way to find dirt on other countries, but, whether it's americans or not in question, this article was definitely thread-worthy. It just happened to be about you lot, again. This is extremely typical, whether you like it or not.
