Welcome to Site Discussion, if you are new to this public forum, welcome. If not, you know how great this forum is. There is little traffic, friendly interaction between Mods, Admins, and Members, and helpful posts from most everyone. Don't be surprised to not see any "+karma" posts, it isn't a bad thing, in fact, it is a very good thing, because if you are posting in here, you aren't looking to get your e-rep up, you are here to speak your mind about the site, and not argue over arbitrary matters that have no pull anywhere past the forums.

As for the matter I'd like to address, saying +karma to a post is pointless. It is about as effective as saying +1 to get your posts up, like in the good old days. Instead, all it does is encourage a cycle of meaninglessly increased karma, because obviously if you see someone agreeing with you, and giving you karma, you will return the favor. I feel for the karma system to work, if we can all agree to NOT say "+karma", we can refine the system into a more perfect one, where Karma is awarded for posts that matter, instead of just a favors system..

end fragmented thought.

good thread, +karma for you

lul but seriously, all the +karmas are getting annoying and are unnecessary

I have to say i agree with this. Personally i think it would be great if we didn't write +karma in thread titles anywhere.

i plussed your karma

hahaha^

but, i agree. i'm not going to lie, but i'm a suspect of this certain crime. i realize that i shouldn't say +k for answering, but i mean to say +k to helpful responses. from a couple months or so ago to now and the future, i will/have award(ed) karma to all that deserve it, and not as a favor. thanks for the thread

i definitely agree. in fact, i made a thread on this a few months back.

butttt, i feel that most of the people who are out saying +k or +karma or whatever, dont check much other than non-ski gabber.

im not really a fan of the whole karma system in general. exactly for this reason. sure a small percentage of members will use it as a way to encourage well thought out and meaninful posts, but most people up karma for personal reasons, or down karma if the poster doesnt agree with their view point. which i think is ridiculous.

i prefer just reading peoples posts to see if theyre intelligent or not, i don't even pay attention to karma in the slightest.

and +karma has defintiely gotten annoying

i agree with the original post, these plus karma for everything threads are getting out of hand,
i also think the karma has its place here, for people looking for advice its cool to increase karma for people that genuinely help out or who post something that legitimately adds value to this site... i think this was the original intention for the system.
lets just see if we can get rid of the "what skis to get +++K" (just an example) ha ha

Yes. I have no problem with people giving out karma in return for advice/good posts - thats what it was meant for. However, it shouldn't be used as a reward for answers. NSers should help other NSers regardless, and even if you don't post "+Karma!" in your title, you'll still get both good and bad posts - that's the way it is.

I also feel that this thread is addressing quoting good posts and saying "+karma". The person who made said good post should already know that it was well thought out and answered some questions/was helpful, and will know that the people reading it feel that way too by looking at reactions in the thread (not the "+karma" posts, but the agreements and discussions based off it) and their overall karma. I feel that by saying "+karma", the person is only doing 4 things - uselessly upping their post count, cluttering the thread, claiming that they gave +karma, and (the only positive thing) giving feedback to the good comment.

i think he's talking about putting "+karma" in thread titles, not in the posts inside the thread. right?
