Site Design Going WAY downhill

This is something that has definitely come to our attention.
The funny part is that the site design has been pretty much the same all winter long, but now with spring coming about its when everyone starts to notice all the things wrong.
We're very concious about how currently the site is kind of a mismash of various ideas, and that we have upped the ante with the ad serving. This all leads to the fact that it needs to be cleaned up a TON.
As we do every year, the summertime will be when we begin the overhaul of NS. We're going to address all the issues affecting the site, and really take a long look at how everything is looking. I know that cko (who does all web design) is REALLY excited to sort out the mess that this site has become.
So know that we're aware, and we want to make this into the best site in the world, and that we are right now working to make that happen.

Really? The new site was unusable back when it was first launched but it works fine now. Replying to a thread is exactly the same as it was when I joined 6 years ago. Nothing changed.

i find it runs quite slowly. especially when i bring up the "reply thread" page. that's where i notice it the most anyway.

I've always loved NS because I can open 10 threads in new tabs while I'm scrolling down the forums. If sacrificing a "modern" looking site is what you need to do to keep it running fast then I'm down. Any other forum I can only load a few pages at once, not 10+ like here. Vbulletin etc. is cool, but looks the same everywhere and all the features and shit annoy me sometimes and slow my computer.

how do you turn that off?
also, i think something that should be considered is that the reply box should be at the bottom of the thread page. alot of times i forget what i was going to say and have to go back to the thread page which is pretty annoying. idk, it might just be me that has this problem though. this might increase post whoring and useless posts though
