i didnt get how there is so much negativity with msp films on newschooleers. i own focused and year book and have enjoyed ski movies 123 i really liked the hit list and look forward to buying push the new one. so i would like to no y everyone doesnt like them
 
look in the other threads. there are way too many of these, but to answer your question. its the same movie every year. They have horrible business practices too. I choose not to support them.
 
I made a montage the other day, and steve winter came into my house, knocked over a painting, and told my dad to withdraw sponsorship of my film.
 
They progressed it to a point where people said hey I can do better then this.

But MSP owns big mountain scenes. They are so good at doing those
 
who else has a better big mountain movie? tgr and msp are rad, just cause they dont hit urban rails and have riders over 25 years old doesnt make them lame, i think they're sick
 
Wink inc(the waiting game) and tgr(every tgr movie ever) owned MSP. They don't even have big mountain on lock.

And yes TGR is insane. Didn't see the wainting game (couldn't afford it)

 
when ski movie 3 came out i was truly amazed. it was the sickest movie out there along with happy dayz. but focused was good but not as good. and everything else kinda sucked

and I've never been into MSP movies. I really like their filming, but their overall movies are sooo boring. The first good segment I saw them make was T Rainville in Yearbook. I was really into TGR when I was little, but then I discovered Poorboyz and was like "fuck that"
 
let them do business as they please because half of you fucking kids don't know exactly what the fuck your talkin about but yet you hate on them because you think you know. but you have no clue.
 
Their movies are kind of boring. Their is about half an hour of skiing slowed down to make a 90 minute video. Also they did some pretty shitty stuff to other film companies.
 
Push/Pull looks pretty sick though. Just as long as they take out big mountain skiing and excessive narration.
 
Why do you think The Hitlist was twenty minutes longer than almost every other ski movie last year? 1/16th Slow Motion, Baby!
 
The only reason MSP movies are popular is because they have good skiing. If they hadn't started out right at newschools skiings beginings they wouldn't stand a chance. Could you imagine how fucking boring their movies would be if the skiing wasn't ridiculous? They have a high budget so can afford good riders and to take them to exotic places. Just think of how good of a movie Berman could make with a budget like MSP's.

People where complaining about how short PYBs was but it probably has just as many skiing shots in it as the Hit List just shown 8 times faster with some filler thrown in to make it not all ski porn.

I've said this many times but Instead of making they're movies better, MSP trys to make everyone elses movies worse
 
MSP sucks since all the 12-year-olds on Newschoolers jumped on the hate bandwagon. If the right person/people came on here praising MSP, everyone would like them and their movies.
 
^people can have their own opinion. it just so happens that alot of people hold the same opinion about msp... i hate msp because the guy who owns it is a greedy basterd, but most of all i hate it because everyone of their shots are slowed down below 50%, its boring, and its just not the style i like to watch of skiing.. so stop talking about this bullshit bandwagon stuff just because you still like msp
 
gotta give 'em props, as well as each and every other smaller company that fires up on a dream. not an easy game, and I think its awesome how much content is now readily available to us. also to see all of the diferent forms of creativity. keep up the good stuff! The Two Plank Crew
 
i like them.

i am waiting to hear about specifics on their "horrible business practices" (that doesnt seem to go hand in hand with the claim "they have a huge budget"- a bit oxy moronic) and about their "shitty stuff they have done to other companies". until then, i will support them and after then will prolly still love their movies.
 
I am about to be hated by all of NS but i would like to point out that PBP movies have basicaly been the same for a while other then the fact that they are fallowing skiing out of the park and into the backcountry like the resto of ski films, but the editing has basicaly been the same. PBP and MSP are simmiler that if you took away the amazing skiing both of their movies would be really boaring, And Eric Hjorleifson is probly the best big mountain skier right now. Let the NS hate begin.
 
See this is what I am sick of, its total BS really. MSP films things amazingly well but you would never give them credit for that, there is no argument that they make good videos I mean if berman made that film you would say its awesome. Don't diss on something that doesn't deserve it. Crap on his business practices I don't care. But the films are damn good.
 
you guys can bash msp all you want. i noticed some of you said they put out the same movie every year and i ask doesn't everyone?

most film companies use the exact same angle shots every year giving you the same perspective while msp finds ways to do it differently via heli shots for park riding, cable cams, etc...

from what i can tell, msp's films are more of a work of art rather than the simple ski porn you see from most companies!

that's my opinion, bash it all you like!

 
because they do the same shots year after year, and they fucked tbc over probably because they knew tbc is way better than they will ever be. and now tbc cant make an awsome movie. its just an asshole thing to do.

plus the last thing they need is more money, money cant make your movies creative, and they obviously dont realise that. i dont like pbp much better anyway, its just that instead of fucking over smaller companies like msp, pbp helps them out.

so im never going to buy their shitty ass movies ever again, i want to steal or borrow my friends copy and put it on a bit tourrent thing so everyone can watch it for free without having give money to a bunch of assholes.
 
i agree with pipe_monkey. i was shocked to see that everyone all of a sudden hated msp. hit list was kind of lame on the skiing part of it, but msp is one of the earliest ski movie companies, cant just hate on them now.
 
MSP movies are a mixed bag some segments blow my mind others i feel like blowing myself. And for all the people saying they dont like their business practices they are not a charity they are there to make money exactly like every other ski movie maker out there. If they are able to buy the music, the talent, the directors well tough shit thats business.
 
You have a knack for saying stupid things on a regular basis. If Berman made MSP's film it would be 15 minutes long because the movie wouldn't be shot at 1/4 speed. Most of the animosity towards MSP has little to do with Steve Winter's business practices, and everything to do with the fact that it takes incredible determination for many of us to sit through a film like that. I watch Bushie's seg in Hit List all the time because it has unparalleled shots, no questions asked. After that, I pop out the DVD until I feel like watching Bushfield again instead of expending the incredible effort it takes to drag through the rest of the flick.
 
uhh what I am saying is no matter what msp does do its going to get thrashed on now because of its rep. And if Berman decided to make a video like that, it would probably be accepted as whats cool now, because everyone thinks berman is awesome. I happen to like slo mo plenty. Theres nothing wrong with it. Most of my posts are alot more thought out then the average post on NS. If you wanna talk about intelligent comments I'm pretty sure all I got from you last time we met was "Wanna smoke a bowl?", as you watched your photographer step out your inrun for you. Sounds intelligent to me.

Yeah, I am lazy and yeah I do smoke but when I offered you to smoke on a doobie I was trying to extend a favor to a gaper who actually introduced himself to me as "GotamaBCShredder from Newschoolers." As you and your Bush League Brosefs went up to hit Pyramid you somehow took this as an insult and posted your experience for the betterment the Newschoolers community. So how did that footy turn out, guy?

you know, you really can't make a point like that...cause you know, i'm sure most people wouldn't like it just because berman made it. people like berman because of the style in which he makes his movies, if he changed his style that dramatically then i'm sure people would take notice and not enjoy it much because of how similar the style would be to MSP's movies, which the people you are takling to dislike.

but i guess i could see how you'd think that, i still find it stupid as hell though.

Well, I don't come on here to make friends, Mormon Moe. I just enjoy talking shit about gapers like you and other things I dislike (such as MSP). How convenient that I found a thread where I can do both!
