Jake can film with whoever the fuck he wants and simple can film whoever the fuck they want. Simple is a collective of filmers and riders not just one filmer and a small clique like there is at hyland. Just because they made one viral edit doesn't mean it's going to happen every time. Simple doesn't need to please you 12 year old fan boys.

Rule # 1 of Newschoolers - Never hate on / insult SIMPLE.

Rule # 2 of Newschoolers - Never hate on / insult Jake Carney / anyone who is a style skier

You just broke the 2 rules of Newschoolers. I wonder if NS will now collapse upon itself and break down into civil war

Neither of those are rules of newschoolers in the slightest, let alone THE two rules. Both just blew up last season and NS has been around for so much longer than that. And don't try telling me you didn't mean it that way because I know you did.

lmao, anything people like a lot will get hated on by other people because they get mad they cant like it. like me and comp skiing, or comp skiers and the bunch or guys and the kardashians or repulicans and equality. hate on i say. but if you want people to agree with you, work on presenting your argument better

1?? I believe they've made a few pretty big edits over 8 or 10k views

You know who's really overhyped? Those kids from the bunch

Indeed, its cool for about a minute but when i see my whole feed filled with it it just gets annoying. Plus the guys from the bunch are really good skiers, not to hate but a lot of the other kids just do that cuz they can't really do much else

10k views isn't jack on this site, any video that gets plopped on the NS Facebook page gets at least that. Edumacate yourself and watch some Moxley edits.

Fair enough what is considered "big" then? 20k?

You say this like dunc wont be your favorite skier next year. I predict 2 more threads just like this one in 2017 about duncan and austin. Simple isnt even started yet mark my words. Or screenshot.

Also post an am who goes faster than carney

He's a good skier who will prove well. Just watch

It's not the views that matter. It's how it's received in the community, how much of a household name the edit becomes among NSers. Anyone can just share their video on Facebook enough times and hit that many views.

John you are underestimating how little videos have over 10K views on this site, the newschoolers Facebook shares at least 24 videos everyday. Many of the videos have been shared up to 5 times and they still will only have 2000-3000 views, 24 videos a day on the NS Facebook shared = 168 videos shared every week and i bet you there are maybe 2 or 3 of those videos shared that have over 10K views.

10K views is a big edit on this website... if you wanna do it by the numbers

---------------------

As for Simple,

bulletproof, sovereign, untouchable and deadkind are all on DTF's level imo

Not quite as many videos on FB as we used to do but still lol not many videos push 10k views anymore unless they're standout edits. Hell, if an edit (not some viral one clip shot) goes over 30k it's damn impressive. Back in the day, it was more common to see popular crews like 4bi9 hit 50k regularly but those days are long gone.

Why do you think that is? The sheer of number of quality edits being produced is flattening viewership across videos?

To use a fish analogy- I knew it was a baited hook but I went for it anyways because I knew I could break the line, spit the hook out, and still have a nice meal.

Our thought is that it is because there are so many more edits now people are less inclined to click on each one and the facebook/social sharing algorithms don't show every post to every person anymore. Unless a video starts getting traction instantly it can likely go unnoticed.

We've also found that videos that breach the 10k views are from repeat views. Creating a video that gets watched over and over again isn't easy these days. If you can think back to the buying videos days people would watch the same video/segments over and over again. Now it's more of a one and done.

Hmm, interesting. That would make sense.

This is about as spot on as it can be. The whole landscape of social media right now is not conducive to having an edit blow up solely from a link being shared by your friends and the Newschoolers page like the "good ol' days" since FB's algorithm, as Saga stated, doesn't show posts to everyone on your page. So, a video that should blow up might not blow up at all. I have been posting full edits directly to FB's video player recently as some may have noticed and the ones that blew up on NS also typically blow up on FB and get about 30-60k views that way which is usually more than quadruple the number of views they got on NS (but not all the time ie DEADKIND, Rob a bank to get rich, ect)

The other thing I've noticed is more and more kids are filming just to post to IG which in my opinion is whack as fuck but I don't feel like going into that right now. So many kids who kill it will use the #NSfamous to get their content reposted but I've never seen an edit out of them on here.

ya this is accurate i made a piece of shit edit in 2010 that has almost 11k views. click back through the years and old crappy edits have tons of views

Kids are thirsty for the insta fame and don't understand why flying under the radar is so much more respectable. If Instagram got rid of posting videos all together our problems would be solved. I don't go on Instagram to watch videos, that's just a bigger waste of time in my book.

If you dont have over a thousand followers and bust over 150 likes on every pic are you actually cool?

flying under the radar may be more "respectable" but it's definitely harder to get sponsored in any form without a strong social media presence. nowadays it seems like if you're trying to make it as a sponsored athlete, social media is the name of the game for better or worse. at least in my experience

Furthermore why would I only post a video to NS and get 300 views, when I can also post the same one to IG and get a few thousand?

So you say... I post shit to my Instagram (granted I'm not a kid...) and I try to make a little edit of my mates and I each year but it's more for posterity than anything else. A bit of a creative outlet and remembering how much fun 'that day' was.

My IG feed is 95% skiing, it's a good way to suss out new edits from a little clip here and there.

I dunno, it's just like, my opinion, man.
