Simple Video Editor for MP4

Hey guys, I tried to do some searching around but never found what I needed. Here's the deal. I have a Flip Mino HD and it takes video in MP4 format. So I shot a video yesterday that is 20 minutes long and I want to speed it up so it is like a time lapse thing (down to around 5ish minutes) and throw a song on it. This is all I want to do, so can you guys recommend a free program that will edit Mp4 format and do these two simple tasks? Thanks!

By the way, if you need a sample video of what I'm trying to do I can find one.
 
mpeg stremclip will convert to mov or avi whatever you need to use in the editor you have.
 
Yeah, I got a program that can convert it, so I did that and used Windows Movie Maker, but the saving process (finish movie) is total crap and doesn't work.
 
this sony vegas is the best somewhat simple PC video editor

second only to Adobe Premiere but this is a little more complex
 
Ok, yeah. I tried Sony Vegas 7 and I imported the video clip I wanted to edit and the first time it came up, but then the program froze and I had to restart. After that each time I tried to import the video it would only import the sound from it (no video). Sooo....I guess what I'm saying is I don't know if Sony Vegas would work for me, or if it was just a problem with the installation I had.
