yeah its fucking tight. Me and a couple friends got to go and it was the sweetest skiing i've had ever. Almost all fresh lines and awesome terrain. We hit it on a sweet day 2 feet of fresh powder. I'm going again next year for sure

uh we didnt get any tests. THey just ask if you know how to use your becon and if you can ski and you arent a dipshit and stuff. You need a Becon Probe and Shovel. If you dont have those you can rent them. I dunno why you wouldnt have those if you want to do back country stuff though

don't you need to take an avalanche course too?

Word up to Canada

No you don't have to take a course unless you want to. Silverton is awesome! beautiful country with loads of fresh powder..... some might say it is perfect

yeah you don't have to, but it's not a bad idea... i think you can take an avalanche class for like 150 bucks there.. 150 bones for possibly saving your life isn't a bad deal

For those of you who have been how much would I look at spendin' if I was to ski 2 days and stay a night in Silverton. Or would it be best to just go back to Durango and enjoy the nightlife?

It's also crazy how shity Purgatory (Durango Mountain)'s snow has been the past couple of seasons while Silverton has been dumped on in recent years.

silverton always gets mads amount of snow & yes it does suck how durango has been shit on the past couple of years.... but purg is stepping it up in the park this yr

Silverton is an awesome place to go. I am hopefully headed up this weekend. The snow is always good. For you people asking it is about $100 a day. All guided. You don't have to take training but you do have to have avalanche equip. which they will rent you. I recomend this place. Anyone headed up let me know. It is always better with a group of young people.

You can check out there website at: www.silvertonmountain.com

Yeah dudes, about $100 a day and they take 80 people per day. And I'd definitely drive back to Durango for the night-life. A level I avi course in Silverton is $200 and the level II is $265. Good classes they are, worth every cent.

i'm all over silverton this spring.....and i'm glad purg's park is stepping up this year because it was ass shit balls when i was there last year

So does your guide let you basically go wherever you want within reason if you are following him? Or do you have to follow exactly and make turns right next to the closest track? I have heard of some heli operations doing that, but I hope Silverton isn't that way.

Look... A mountain RAM. Staring contest. Me and you. You don't even blink do you? You win. You always do. Goulet.

you gotta follow your guide and stay within the lines he sets. $99/day during low season; $119/day right now. no test or avy exp required, but you should know how to use your equip. this is basically backcountry skiing and there's no beginner or intermediate terrain out there boys!
