Silicone Boot Boards

Alex Ferreira just posted a video for DIY silicone boot boards. Never tried anything other than stock boot board (minor boot work modifications sometimes). Think I'll make this a summer project to try it out this season.

Surprised his videos don't get more plays too?

I think he mentions that he used two tubes. However, I'd guess this varies depending on boot size and brand.

I think I’m gonna give it a whirl. Thanks for sharing

This is fucking wild. If anyone does it post results. Almost seems like it would be too soft underfoot but I'm intrigued.

I've always been interested in doing this with a soft expoy but the silicone seems easier. I like his mold tips

Yeah my thoughts exactly, seems like you will lose all of the precision you get from a hard boot board. Can't imagine this being good for anything except park. But I wanna some results on some average joes before I contemplate this.

what if you grinded down your hard boot board a few mm and then cast silicone ontop of your hard bootboard to have the best of both worlds

That’s a good idea, but then again why not just get a shock absorbing insole.

Seem to have decent ones.

Full tilt and dalbello comes stock with rubber boot boards

Not Dalbello, 24 Il Moro came w the same plastic boot board as the Carbrio LV line despite them saying it came w a rubber one on blister. Guess they stopped doing rubber boot boards for some fuckin reason

Almost had a fuckin heart attack opening this thread thinking he was going to make his own silicon footbeds instead of the zeppas that he’s making.

i run a dr scholls under my liners on top of the boot board.

def helped back when i was instructing and in my boots on my feet non stop for 8 hours a day.

i could see how this would feel pretty nice without having to change the volume of your boot

edit: im not sure its about the shock absorption, but more about anti fatigue like the mats you see behind cash registers

This could also potentially be improved on by adding some straws spaced out in the heel area encapsulated by the caulking or by frothing up the silicone so there are more air bubbles.

the way i see it, if you just fill up the cavity in your lowers with silicone, then jump around, the silicone wont have anywhere to displace. could be a lot softer if the silicone would have some space to give way.

idk, i will def try
