Sigh...another what skis thread...

Alright, so I hate to do this, but, this is a "what skis?" thread. My buddy is about 5'1, 100 lbs, and skis pretty aggressively. We're on the east coast so we'd be hitting groomers and the occasional pow day when we werent in the park. We looked through the Buyer's Guide, and found 2 possible choices: 159 K2 Silencers ($375) or 156 Line Chronics ($550). Price is a small problem, um, anything under $650 is prefered, just because his parents would be buying...so yeah, yay or nay on these to choices or throw a couple different options out there.

650 budget is pretty generous...

a few more things he could consider:

155 4frnt TNK

157 Armada El Ray

161 Armada AR6

160 Dynastar TM

and for stuff a little wider in the waist that might be nicer on the occasional pow day:

161 Line Anthem

161 Volkl Wall

160 Rossi Scratch Pro Brigade

the stuff getting into the low 160s might be a tiny bit on the bigger side, b/c 5'1" = 155ish cm, but im sure he's still growing... and you say that he's an aggressive skier
 
161 anthems sound sick. if he would like something a little stiffer maybe 161 volkl walls or the bridges (not sure what size they're in.)
 
i would normally reccomend the ar6 in this case, but i think it may be too stiff for someone who only ways 100 lbs. sooo. id have to say elray 157 or salomon thruster or dumont 161.
 
what do you guys think of the Head Mojo Spawn 2? they come in 154...

btw, we checked his recommended ski size and it was 155...

if i skied east coast i wouldnt bother buying anything that was good at buttering and switch

and with a 90 waist you have more stability
