Sierra summit

Really good compared to what it ever was last year. No big jumps yet, but the biggest that will be going in is going to be around 50. We have a 20ft. rail and 12ft. tube setup at the very top, then a 25ft. down box, 25ft. flat down rail, 20ft. C-Box, then a 25-30ft. flat up box with a 20ft. up box next to it, then a medium rainbow box (20ft?) with a 20ft. up rail next to it, then a wallride, big rainbow box (30ft.) and a Flat to drop down box (25ft.), then a butter pad to corrugated pipe stall, big wallride, and barrel bonk. That could have changed, but that's what was setup as of last Saturday. We also have three jumps, one up top that was like 15ft. (I think they built it up bigger during the week), then down the run a little more there is a 15 and 10 foot jump.

Place is never crowded. Chair 4, the park chair, is the most crowded chair and the longest you will wait is like 5-7 minutes. Jibs are so good right now, and I'd be willin to bet we get some bigger jumps by the end of January.

1:15 from Friant road and highway 41. Super close. This weekend is going to be insane. If any of you kids are coming up, I'll give you my number and we can ride some super deep powder and get fresh tracks all day in my stash.

Here are some of the features. Sorry if the pics are shit, I didn't want to skip a run to take close-up pics, so I tried to get some from the lift with my phone. They are in order from top to bottom.

Features look about twice the size in real life. Sorry again for shitty pics and the setup could change after this storm.

sick set ups. I will be out there Feb 10th just for the day. Hoping for some pow but will settle for some nice jumps and good sunny day. Looks like your gettin some snow this week(everyday really) How is the base out there? what has been your total snowfall for the year? thanks

Before this storm we had around 40-60" of snow for our base. Our season hasn't been real weak, but it hasn't been strong either. This storm should put us up to par. Our park will be far better when you're here too. Some big jumps will be in and definitely more rails and boxes. I wouldn't be surprised if you were skiing over a foot of fresh either because February is one of our better snow months. I'm not sure if the 10th is on a weekend, but if it is hit me up and I can show you around. I always hate going to other resorts and being lonely. Haha.

^ thanks man +k. yea unfortunately it is a Wednesday. going out there for work and will be in Fresno for the week so I thought I would take a day off for some skiing. Cant wait and thanks for the offer I would love to ride with a loc but seems like you are a weekend warrior haha. Appreciate the insight, peace rich

gotchya. How strict are they on having chain on cars? I know alta would have park rangers sittin at the entrance road of little cottonwood, turnin people around if they dindt have chains when chains were required. Is there a schuttle that runs from a parking lot to the base of the mtn? thanks for the info!

Well, if there's enough snow on the road, they'll make you put them on. If you have 4WD or AWD, they won't make you put them on 99% of the time, but you will need to have them in the car. If you don't have what I just said, they will turn you around, no questions asked. They do run a bus from the Fresno shop and that costs $25 for a round trip. All the parking lots are right at the base of the resort. No riding buses around like you would at a big resort. Park, walk two minutes, and you're there.

Just got a confirmation today that Sierra Summit is in escrow. Snow Summit sold it to Kirkwood's current manager and from what I know the manager is going to leave Kirkwood and run Sierra Summit. Some of the first updates are a brand new high speed quad and a much more up to date lodge, with MANY smaller updates too. I'm assuming the park will get better with more money and a guy who actually has a clue of how a ski resort should be ran.

Super excited to go out and finally use my season pass next weekend. Hopefully with all this snow they'll be able to push a sick jump line.

Done expect anything crazy this weekend. Looks like they're moving a little slow which is pissing me the fuck off, but don't expect a jump bigger than 15ft. and looks like there might not be all the rails. Look for me though, I'll be there both days.

anybody going on thursday? how is the park and are there any pow staches i should know of? they said they got a foot over the weeken, cant wait!

Name changes back to China Peak next season. Shit's going to be stepped up next year. Sounds like he likes the current mountain infrastructure, so don't count on any new chairs, especially considering a high speed quad costs more than he's paying for the whole resort. Expect a renovated lodge, more events, a ski area more invloved with Fresno and the surrounding communities, better customer service, better park with some sponsors, Santa Cruz Boards being one that really wants to jump on board. Sounds like he is really open to suggestions and he really wants to get a freeride team going. Name's Tim Cohee, big real estate guy, he was something like senior vice president at Kirkwood and he played a big part in making Kirkwood more of a destination resort. Check out www.skichinapeak.com for more details and I recommend watching the videos and checking out what he has to say.
