Sierra Quitiquit is freaks out over a meme

Not to mention the wind power you’re generating by furiously patting yourself on the back!

Wow endless hate in this thread. SO,

What does Newschoolers do to be more conscious for the environment and the skiing we all love so much? We're all scootin around in cars to get the mountains and, unless you're only touring, using energy for chairlifts, lodges, etc.

Personally I work in solar for over a half decade, helping deploy shit tons of megawatts of solar power to our grid. And I work from home so, hooray no commute fumes.

We can all show up and shit on someone, or we can take the message and do something about it.

What do YOU do?

Im not gonna read all these pages of bullshit but I don’t get all the hate? Okay she’s more of a model/influencer then a ripping skier. Who cares? I’m sure everyone here wishes they had that as a career. She’s a bit over the top but she’s got her cause and soapbox and is letting all know. And it’s not a shit cause, it’s something relevant to us all in skiing. So idk why all the hate.

I think the gist of this thread is that she's not a skier and her being promoted as a pro-skier takes money from the legit female rippers of the world. Also, her jet-set lifestyle why proselytizing environmentalism is sanctimonious and contradictory.

This. And she promotes Gucci and Bogner ??

If you really read and understand her comments. She is mad about how the clueless trolls percieved the post. She is mad that people think the post is an opportunity to be sexist.

Ya she misunderstood the post but thats not the point and she is mostly right

idk man it would be really cool to have equal pay for women in competitions

No one is saying it wouldnt be cool. They are just saying women are going to have to do dub 18s with original grabs to get equal pay.

My whole thing, if we are to get on topic about the whole equality thing, is the excuses that most girls / women make. Looks at gymnastics. Now it’s not a sport that I follow, but women have been doing some crazy shit in the gymnastics world (no idea if men are doing crazier shit, they all do crazy shit that I definitely can’t do). So there is no excuse for women not excelling in skiing. Nobody is judging you, no one cares if you fall in the park. All ya gotta do is try. Embarrassment is all in your head. Nobody can tell if you are embarrassed or not if you fuck up unless you make it obvious.

I think some people take issue with the fact that she is a loud and proud climate activist, yet has a carbon foot print much much larger than an average person. The hypocritical stuff is what gets people. Flying all over the place to expensive retreats and such.

Does anyone on here know her personally? I really want to hook her up with my cool Australian friend that is planning to run one marathon a day across all of Africa, starting in South Africa... he's such a cool dude with positive vibes for everyone... look for his GoFundMe and please donate so that he can afford this... he plans to donate AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE to the kind souls he meets along the way who really need it

I don't think its going to happen because he's a white Australian. If he was a black African, she would fly over there to take pictures along side him and other black African children to make some sweet social media posts about saving the world. A white Australian though? Eh, she would rather spend her trust fund on something better than being the extra white savior wheel. That shits played like last season's Gucci.

How is she taking money from "legit female rippers of the world" though? Brands who support her clearly support her because of who her audience is (demographic), and her reach (followers) - not because of how she is ripping. Simple marketing is it not? You go to her website and her homepage literally says "Sierra is a professional model." What ski companies even sponsor her? Is it only Nordica?

Bogner does as well. Not sure if they are big in the states but they are a luxury brand in Europe, maybe not a bad sponsorship for her.

I think the insta influencer thing is stupid and I can't follow those people but if you wanna do it and make money, whatever. I can't knock the hustle.

Her reaction that started this thread and the shitshow that followed is really the only reason why people were calling her out and why this thread exists.

She seems hypocritical as fuck and her and her psycho followers just want to lash out at things. That whole bullshit where she was attacking ski companies. I just can't stand phony people and their soap boxes going after legit people, being offended by anything, pretending they're saving the world. But she hosts plastic free fridays or whatever so I guess she should get a nobel prize or something.

People can do whatever they want but I don't see why it's shocking that people on here were annoyed by her. And as much as she has the right to post whatever on social media, people here have the right to do the same.

The internet sucks sometimes.

Last statement, let’s move on guys and girls!

She isn’t even that big, you guys made her sound like a super star. The thread is a pretty bad read though, I couldn’t make it past the first page and did some digging on my own. She’s just like any other influencer, I didn’t see anything over the top or upsetting.

Anyways, I agree, let’s put it to rest.

I think you kids are pathetic for trying to protect her from her own shitty decisions and fake life style just because you like to jack off to her before going to bed. She wants a living based on social media, let her have it and all the baggage that comes with her self-destructive hypocrisy.

Lmao where did that come from? We’re on the same side, I’m just not as fired up about it.. your last sentence even agrees with my post. She’s just like any other influencer and I don’t see the big deal. Maybe it’s because I don’t use social media. Compared to what I expected she’s pretty small. I had to look her up since Monsier the grouch wouldn’t give me any context.

Her IG says she's a "professional skier", Nordica promotes her as a member of their "Freeride Crew" (she's actually more prominent on the list than Dale Talkington). At the end of the day, you're right, being a pro is about marketing but if any of us want to even pretend like we love this sport then we shouldn't let metrics like audience engagement, followers, or likes determine what it means to be a pro.

I have never seen a video of Sierra skiing. Should insta models with large followings start getting sponsored by ski brands because of their potential marketing value? Or does that cheapen the sport?

Quitiquit is like omarosa on that apprentice show. The point is for everybody to hate her. Shes famous and earns her sponsors money, but nobody actually likes her and thats the point.

i hate alot of things but its ok because theres a place that exists called 4chan

OMG you guys, it’s Plastic Free Friday, coming atcha from Hawaii, where I’m doing shoulder recovery because apparently Park City has nothing.

Id buy a KIM K rossignol S7 in a heartbeat

Social media influencers are the scum of the earth and all trolling and abuse (as long as it’s kept online of course) is fair game and automatically not sexist or racist or anything just because you are black or female doesn’t make you not an asshole.

Her being more prominent on Nordicas team page honestly just makes sense. She has a lot of pull in the female community, and as much as I wish guys like Dale Talkington had more influence on people, it just won't happen. However, I do feel like that it says something about Nordica as a company to have her be their number one girl. Nordica chooses to support women on their "freeride crew" who do not push the limits of female skiing at all. They are more focused on follower count and looks for their females, rather then their actual skiing ability. Which in my opinion sucks, but thats how they're choosing to do it.

Her last skiing related post was on December 18, the last time she tagged Nordica was August 5, and the last time she showed off a pair of Nordicas in a post was August 2. What pull can she possibly have in the female ski community?

If pro-skiing really is as simple as "influence" and following, what does that mean for the sport? Those of us who grew up watching ski movies and every edit we could find on NS and Youtube; where does that leave us? Are we just the unwilling cogs in a giant marketing machine? Is there no intrinsic artistic or spiritual value to this sport? The premiers we've been to, the comps we've stayed up late to watch; I think they meant something more. The art we watch is more than marketing and the people who push our collective expression forward are the pros in my mind. Ultimately, it doesn't matter who's getting paid but it still sucks that some companies think so little of this sport and those who make it.

i log back into newschoolers after a few months, hoping to find something new or relevant. i see this thread has reemerged. i click on it (why must i). i read one smart post about problems related to systemic inequality. i notice that the abortionator is a fuckin idiot. i realize that much of the site is as i left it, many years ago: young dudes with a relatively small world view. i remember that i too was once like that, and in many ways i still am. and i log back out.

On this page alone their is a picture of her picking up trash her and the photographer brought to pick up on a beach. No way it was there before the shoot

She also could have posted a non makeup pic of herself looking good but opted for some weird facial expression for sympathy or whatever the fuck.

Whatevs don’t hate the player hate the game I guess.
