Sierra Nevada College

im most likely goin to sierra nevada college next year and i read the past forums on this place and ther hasnt been one since 2004. anyways anybody go there or know anything about it. i talked to the race coach. might do the race team or just go straight freeskiing. what do you guys think.

i applied there recently, but got into westminster in utah; my more of a top choice school.

sierra looks decent tho, cant tell you much

I went to high school in Incline, so trust me on this one...

its expensive as fuck. its in incline village, the richest town in nevada/ west coast mountain region.... Nothing to do but ski, drink, smoke. have to drive 15 minutes to get to n*, 30 to alpine, 30 to heavenly. NO night life. very few hot chicks, 120k for four years...

UNR is your best bet. 30 minutes from skiing, cheap, and a whole lot more to do.

only good thing is that they have ski business/resort management...

yes, i used to live in incline for 10 yrs, and the town is very small, with not much to do, alot of partying and such in the area however. local resort (diamond peak) is around 5 minutes away, and is decent, and alpine, rose, are about 30 minutes away, and many other killer mountains within an hours drive. The school was just re built a few years ago so its really nice and new. close to the lake. cons about it, are the small town, that gets overrunnn with tourists over the holidays, not many restaurants night life things in incline, but south lake and reno and 30 minutes to an hour away from you. its a good school and hard to get into, so if you got in, best of luck to you

i got in, but didn't end up going there cause it's so damn small and it's a reelatively new school, so it doesn't have much of a name for itself (which you need once out of college), and money wasn't an issue, they offered me a big scholarship. the ski bussiness major there is pretty sick though, as is the close proximity to Northstar. the people are all stoked on skiing of all forms, and had looked up my competition results, so they're deffinitelly accepting if you have to leave for...say colorado to compete. seems like it could be a good school, but still might be a few years away. it has really nice facilities though, and huge dorm rooms. (i visited there when my family was in tahoe over presidents day a couple years ago)

Don't get yourself involved in that clusterfuck of a college. they just got bought out, they lose faculty every year. It's expensive w/o the benefits of an expensive school i.e a good education and reputation. The thing that was nice is the most I ever had class was 3 days a week, while remaining full time.

i got a scholarship there-- 4 years ago-- I went to the university of utah instead--- I am sure glad i made that choice---

Sorry to inform you, but Sierra is a gathering ground for homosexuals. I'm sorry i had to crush your hopes and dreams. And skiing is not allowed.

Oh but there race team is one of the best in the country, if not the best. Not many americans on the team. So if racing is your thing I guess it would be a good choice.

U.N.GNAR is definately legit and a bigger school with a better established name. As far as I know our race team is also consistantly does well. Lenzner should be giving more imput seeing as how he went to Sierra Nevada college for two years then transfered to U.N.GNAR.

I go to Sierra (SNC) it's cool I did three years and I am finished this spring. glad I did it, I got to ski and had my parents support me. note to all you: parents don't support your skiing if you are a ski bum. so dis SNC and go to school in reno if you want, but I had fun and got that damn piece of paper!
