i have some friends that just moved to tahoe and they're working at sierra. anybody know anything about this hill? how are the trails difficulty? park?

Not a bad mountain... They used to have a really good park... or they still do, they just couldnt get it out last season due to poor snow coverage. They are like Northstar Lite, only I like the way their park is set up a little bit better in the first place... Lets just say, they put enough stuff together to make it into the movie WAR... end of story.

as far as gnarly terrain? meh.. not enough stuff in bounds to make it crazy, but they definitely have some sweet stuff off piste you can find beyond the gates. Still not that gnarly or steep, but certainly a good time out. The 200$ pass is sexy as shit too...

well, northstar made it into war also, but the features in the pro park that they use for the movie shoot are nothing like what you get to ride during the season.

haven't been to sierra in a few years, so i'm not sure how it compares these days.  when i went, the park was pretty fun to cruise around in but not too gnarly.

I bet sierra will put some legit stuff up this season if they have a good year. They have always prided themselves on their park setups. They were one of the first to really put a good park together.

Feels like I havent been there in so long though... man

sierra at tahoe has arguable the best parks in the tahoe area and you can find really fun, and sometimes steep and knarly if you know where to look, stuff out it the BC gates

Jason Arens, Colby Albino, and Finn Anderson all ski there so that should say something. Sierra is a lot of fun. Jumps are usually dialed, good pipe, etc.

Sierra is a blast, the parks are usually really fun

and the tree skiing on powder days is awesome!

most south lakers go there on a regualr. snow is good. woods are a good pitch, plus full of pillow rocks. plus the park is insane when it gets off. just not last year.

Yeah the trees there are definitely super fun even if not on powder days. Its a pretty mellow place and the park is always doughboy fresh.

Sierra is the shit. a home mountain feel with fun terrain and a sweet park. They set up some big stuff occasionoally.

For jumps they are definitly up there with squaw and alpine and heavenly. it just all depends on the time of the year and the amount of snow. just like every other mountain. Rails are also really good to. may not be the super extreme rails at a lot of mountains but everything is really chill and super fun.

They tend to have pretty well manicured jumps for sure.

i've always liked Sierra's parks. very underrated for that stuff.

I've never been there but it sounds like it's much more focused on the skiing, whereas Northstar or Heavenly is more focused on the vacation and village. It does have an SPT park so it can't be bad. I don't know much about what's in the park, but Northstar doesn't have too great of jumps, but the rails are awesome, so depending on their snowpack, there could be less or more jumps. Snowpack is the whole reason Northstar doesn't build up many great jumps, one of the weakest in Tahoe snow wise for sure. There are gates that you can go through and hike to some more wicked terrain than what's lift serviced. It's not as crowded though as Northstar or Heavenly. If you want a place that's got a good park but you can find some really sick terrain Squaw is probably the best for that, and it's not that crowded of a mountain. I've never been there though so if I'm wrong just point it out and don't give me crap about it. I have been to Northstar and Squaw though so I know what they're like.

^^I dont know about that, northstar had a pretty nice big jump set up last year it wasnt massive but it was deff not shitty

Sierra Parks are no joke, the tree skiing is amazing. This resort on a snowy weekday is one of Tahoe's best spots, IMO.

oh no there are " gapers " there, lots of tourists because its the first resort up 50... but its not bad at all... i skied there for a long time when i was younger and they always had a good park and good steep technical stuff if you know where to look (like its been said about 5 times up there^^^^) but yeah... get the double whammy pass and it pays for its self in like 4 trips, and you get to go to n* all you want too
