sidecut is the amount of shape to a ski, the more sidecut, the more of a pronounced "hourglass shape" the ski has. basically, with shaped skis, the sidecut is a section of an arc, and that arc makes a circle. a ski with more side cut will create a smaller arc, and thus a circle with a smaller radius. this is how sidecut is commonly measured; turn radius. In simple turns, a ski with more sidecut/smaller turning radius will be better suited to smaller quicker turns, whilst a ski with less sidecut/larger turning radius will be better suited to larger sweeping turns.
