Side Flips

On what kind of jumps do people learn this trick? Booter into powder? Big-ass hardpack table top?

I tried it once on a smaller hardpack jump and ate shit in such a way that I couldn't even begin to describe what went wrong.

my freind almost landed one in his backyard off like a 3' high mogul style jump and traveled like a total distance of 10'. it was fucking hucked.

A tall mogul-style, "drop" jump seems like it'd be good. I just don't want to land in a hardpack rut line.

try it on like a jump into pow. like a little jump that has some lip but mostly just drops u. my friend did that and he almost landed it it was sick

A lincoln loop is pretty much a side flip with a 180, right? The skier takes off fowards, side flips, and then lands switch. Whatever it is that I want to do involves no 180. It's like a barrel roll.

Maybe the two are the same, I don't know.

NO. licoln loop is just a side flip or a barrel rool. flip with 180 has many names including over/ under flip, mistys, rodeos, front/back flip180s

try it on a powder drop first like you were catching an outside edge right at the edge. seth morrison does them in yearbook if you want to see one.

the rotation is pretty easy but you should be able to do it before you try on skis its easier that way, i would say a small jump with not much lip, step down, into pow

a L-loop that you land switch is an UNDERFLIP. im sure peopel new to this sport dont even know what that trick is anymore! its a shame

also could be an overflip

do it off a diving board, then a big ass booter, I'm think your talking about the flip where you throw down to one side and your always facing forward.

ya thats an L-loop, but hes saying you land switch, which would be underflip/overflip

kinda oldschool? but not really, just not done very nmuch anymore

still way fucking sick if you ask me.

if u can throw them on the tramp u can do them on almost anytype of jump

but just to be safe build a nice booter with some solid kick, with a pow pow landing

Thanks for the replies.

For the record, I'd just like to learn a simple side-flip/barrell roll/lincoln loop with no switch involved. Baby steps and all.

Also, I can do it off a diving board, and I'm pretty sure that I could do it on a trampoline, but it's mid-winter here in AK, so that's not going to happen any time soon.

Anyhow, I'll try to search out a nice dropish jump with a soft landing.

Agreed. I still see dudes do it occassionally, and it's always one of the coolest looking tricks in my opinion. I'd love to be able to pull it out once in a while.

if your looking for a lincoln loop

definately try if off like a kinda small jump into powder

thats how my cousin learned how to do them...best way

I hate to break it to ya, but Aly's gotten 337" of sweet Chugach powder already this year and 283" in December alone.
