i got injured early in the soccer season - screwed up my ankle and was sidelined for 4 weeks. i come back on our biggest game of the year, local rivalry, etc... we win, but i mess up my ankle again. now i go back to the doc and he says im out for 8 weeks. that puts me back in around mid december. it was one thign to miss soccer, but skiing. ive been like this before, but im starting to like get seriously bummed about not skiing and missing everything. what did you guys do to get through the downtime?

you gotta find a hobbie that will make you happy. draw, paint, spend time with friends/girlfriends, travel, buy an instrument and learn how to play it, find something that interests you, you can't make skiing your sole motivation.

i ruptured my spleen on july 15th. My whole summer was fucked and im still not healed. I have to go for a CT scan on november 14th and by then i think i will be good.

sounds like you got an ankle problem that sucks ass i broke my arm in 4 places arm wrestling summer of 2002 and did not get on the slopes until early december it sucked ass get better

go to the hill with friends, and film/photograph. make movies etc. that way you can still be out there, and be participating in the sport

dude I fucked up my back and now I have to go get a bone scan and an MRI to see if there is a stress fracture and if there is then Im out for a minimum of 8 weeks if not then I have a week spine that wont hold up if I keep on landing hard on it....either way Im kinda fucked I was thinking that I would probably Just try and make a sick ski movie on the hill and maybe miss out on the first half. Injuries fucking suck

i had hyperthyroid disease and broke my thumb, my wrist, my collarbone, and my wrist again in the coarse of six months skiing, rollerblading, soccer, and basketball. i used to be a pretty crazy kid and after i broke half my body i was super cautious and never have come close to regaining my original testicles

yo if you follow this advise you'll be back on the hill in 2 weeks no doubt...

1. buy a pund of country crock and rub it all over your ankle.

2. get 2 30's of bud heavy, drink 59 of them and snort the last one

3. stand next to your microwave and run it all day (the white noise is soothing)

4. take one shot of tabasco sauce every 3 hours

follow this to the t and i'll see you on the hill in novembah!

 
i wouldnt let a spraind ankle stop me from skiing. my knee is messed up from repeated blows from falling sk8baording and the fizio dude said i have some scar tissue that is retricting joint movement but that aint stopin me from doing urban rails every weekend

Yeah, I messed my back up real bad last season, T-12 compression and burst fracture, I was out until Augest, I broke it in March, luckilly it was at the end of the season.

I would try not to get really hyped up about skiing like for example watching videos, because it will only make the time not skiing seem longer

 
I have knee problems too from Previous ski seasons. Every season it gets a little worste.

Does anyone ever have problems with there finger and their thumbs skiing? Mine are always fuckin blue

Skiing is bigger than snowboarding. Espn just doesn't want to shock the people of plannet earth into thinking that humans can fly
 
x-box, pilaties, and a book called 'sex for the knee patient', i know it's not your knee.. but still has some good pointers. i'd also recomend finding a ski doo, or somthing else just to get out side. fresh air and sunshine are wonder drugs.

thanks alot guys. DS - thats what i told my dock but the problem is that the ligaments are on the side and front of my ankle. so i can't pivot my knee - which is a big problem. but yea ill find something to do fer sure.

Our sports doctor says its ok to ski on ankles that arent too srewed up becausae boots are such good braces. so throw on an ace wrap and shove your foot into your boot.
