Sick of freeskier mag

i just received the first issue of powder and freeskier in the mail... (yay) and so i unwrap it and as always in freeskier, there is the lange girl poster with skis on the back right? well it used to be like stickers and posters and the occasional dvd, but this and last year, its been that poster in the buyers guide, and then some ski utah stickers in january or something. this is stupid!! i might not even renew my subscription and stick with powder because it has better stories and pictures!! im very dissapointed.
 
I quit subscribeing several years ago, when it was the same 10 dudes who got pics and stories in every mag. back in the dayfreeskier was way sick!! they had that series where they hit up 3 mountains every year and did shoots, and then would cover each shoot as a story in the man, i miss those dayz. back then they also covered up and comers. nostalga i guess.

freeskier really needs to step up it's game.
 
I don't remember any dvd's or shit loads of stickers and posters coming with a freeskier mag. You must have been lucky. I may subscribe to powder next year seeing as my 3 free years of subscriptions is ending haha.
 
all i know is that i looked up my subscription online and it said i am subscribed until 2014. and i don't know how.... i subscribed for a year last year and i sent in a " one free year " card...
 
Do people no research this stuff? The last issue is the February issue, and like most other magazines, they come the previous month (January) and since that is the last issue, you haven't gotten one. You know there are only 6 issues a year right?
 
Powder's special edition McConkey memorial mag was really great, and the buyer's guide in it was pretty good too
 
I've been getting freeskier since it came out for free. I don't know what the deal is, because I don't always buy movies that include the subscriptions but some how they keep coming, actually to my parents house.
Though I will say, after reading the Shane McConkey tribute issue of Powder Mag, I want to get a subscription to Powder. I read that magazine cover to cover and thought it was great. I haven't had a subscription to Powder in over 6 years, but I think its time to go back. They just need to bring back the superpark issue!
 
I think Powder is so much better than Freeskier. Way too many ads, and it doesn't seem like they really even consider the companies that don't pay them money
 
a freeskier subscription is like a dollar a year or something... why do you complain.. yeah its not all that great, but i get it anyways cuz it pretty much costs nothing so why not support the one freestlye ski magazine, even if it is pretty dissapointing sometimes.
 
Because it doesn't have to suck. Why settle for a shitty product when they could just make a good one?

 
That is true, but i enjoy cuz i get to read about skiing.

But if it was like 20 or 30 dollars then it would be a different story.
 
freeskier has sucked since day one. The very first issue ever with Johnny Moseley on the cover sucked and every issue since then has sucked.....

Honestly, there is a reason they offer such deals on subscriptions. A magazine worth actually buying would not be a buck a year for a subscription.

If I had to pay more than $10 a year for it, I would certainly not be a subscriber to Freeskier.
 
i honestly don't understand how people can complain so much about a magazine, they put a heck of a lot of work into it and its just fine
 
not into the buyers guide they don't. They used to when there was a legit review for every single piece of gear in the magazine.
 
agreed... Ski Journal focuses on quality, timeless content that can be enjoyed for years to come. If you dont have a subscription I reccommend asking for one for you birthday or jsut omwing a few lawns and getting one, you won't regret it!
 
i always get freeskier and powder and have always liked freekier a little bit better but know i have realized how much better powder is... powder ftw!!
 
Freeskier really has sold out to the corporate world. I hope someone from freeskier sees this and realizes that they need to get back to their roots. I just bought a NZ skier and I could believe how much better it was than freeskier.
 
so many ads so little content, we all know bills gotta get paid but honestly... where is the line drawn? i'd much prefer a lower budget mag with lots of great content over freeskier.
why can't someone win the lotto and give matt levinthal and the guys from freeze a few million to do something sick
 
yeah ski journal is so awesome. The photography is really good and the paper that it is printed on is higher quality, very few ads and it has interesting articles about the entire ski world, there are alot of amateurs ripping and its nice to see for a change.
 
I'm so ashamed of the magazine that I have a perfectly good Freeskier die cut that has just been sitting on my desk for the last 6 months. I don't want it on any of my stuff.
 
freeskier is an excuse for a few people slob on Clarke, Willis, Pete O and Dumont's knob. I have concluded if you are pro and hang in Boulder you Will be in the magizine. Let's see some features in the park ski world of Japan, South America Norway, France etc....... There is wayyy more to skiing than Keystone and it's local boys. It's quite a sad excuse for a mag. I feel like they fail at every project they start, Road Trip Challenge, movie tour blogs etc... I believe the mag could be sick it just needs some new ideas to help it out. e
