my nan just gave me her old square format wasit level camera, and her old 8mm video camera, both from the mid 1940's.

the film cameras doesnt work, but the video camera is in mint condish, everything still runs perfect. its a Bell and Howell 252 8mm

Your 8mm is a film camera, not a video camera. There were no such things as consumer video cameras in the 40s, let alone 8mm format.

yes there is. They stopped making them like 4 years ago. they switched to mini dv. I use to sell them when I worked a camera shop like 5 years ago. You can actually still find them out there, though I don't know why anyone would want to purchase one this day and age

8mm film looks better than any digital camera you can get imo.  when you get a pretty nice super 8 and know what your doing it looks amazing.   it may not be "high quality"  but thats not the point.

No , they made 8mm FILM cameras in the 40's not video. Consumer video cameras became "affordable" in the 80's and the 8mm/digital8 cameras were popular in the 90s. 2 different things here.
