Thats right... our time is here.

From the Executive market summary:

"Now the single largest adult ski category, twin tips were the money makers this season. Twin tip flat skis surged 32% in units, 35% in dollars and moved from 16% to 22% of all adult skis sold. Exclude carryover sales and twin tips accounted for 36% of the adult ski units and 31% of the dollars."

In other news...

"It looks as though the carve width flat ski is going the way of the dodo. Crashing 45% in units and 44% in dollars, adult carve skis fell from 20% to just 11% of all adult flat skis sold."

OUCH... 45% loss in units sold? Shits OVER.

Nice...i am going to bring these stats with me next time i go to shops in Collingwood to sell them skis

thats pretty shocking news, but I guess its good because it means more money is getting put into the industry

what are you talking about...it's the last year that it will be in vegas...the followingt year it will be in denver

Would like to see the whole report. Is there a link?

how did skis in general do compared to 06/07 and comaprtively to tele, boards, blades. blades HA!

I posted up an article from the New York Times in some thread back in the winter about the surge of twin-tip skis sold in the market. Of course a lot of those are people buying them for their "all mountain" capabilities, or just because many skis are made that way, but regardless, this could be seen coming no doubt.

thats amasing. no sure wether i like it though thats a huge increase in a year in bussiness. good thing for 'independent' companys. not sure if i personaly like it.

wonder what the snowboarding statistics are on types of board sold????

No... fat and superfat were their own category on top of that, both of which also saw immense growth.

For some reason in March there was like a bazillion twins sold. We're up ~200% from 2004.

As someone said, most likely because old men realised they're decent all mountain skis, and they're cooler than the ghey carving ones they used to have.

At Laax, the more people want to rent twins than any other type of ski. There were more volkl walls in the rental fleet than any other ski.

I think the New Canadian Air Force will shed a tear for this....

Look how far the 1080 has come.

I will know it is a true revolution when my mom is on twins. Which should be soon.

I think my family rides the whole 2000/2001 Dynastar lineup. I still ride the Concepts, my mom and sister share a pair of Snaps, my dad has his own Snaps in a longer length, and then I bought the original Candides last winter.

YEAHR TWINTIPS!!

Mike Douglas should dig up some old meeting with Solly where they had to beg the bigwigs to allow the mass production of those yellow demons

Hahahaha. I work at a shop, and I cannot WAIT to tell the Ski Buyer for our company about this.. that is if he doesnt already know..

Telling me that twintips are just a recent fad that wont become the norm for a long time, and that independant companies like Armada, 4frnt, and Moment dont sell... What a joker...

ahahahaha, if you want I can heckle the any mountain manager to sell them, and I can have my friends come in on seperate days and do the same so that you guys end up selling moment next year.

i went skiing yesterday for the first day of the season here in chile and like 70% of the skiers had twin tips and last year it was like at most 20-30%

What are some shops that are specific or geared to twins?

Are there any niche shops at any resorts that anyone can name?

In mammoth they have an the "Unbound Shop" (unbound is the name of the park) in the village and in the main lodge, and in town there's P3 which is freeride specific.

There's one in the main lodge/resort center area of Park City too, and I'm pretty sure there's one in snowmass. don't remember the names
