Shrinking shirts...properly?

hey guys

i have a huge problem in buying t shirts cause i am a very lengthy skinny person

im 16 and everytime i but a shirt i try to buy it slim fitting and long enough

but i never can fin that so i always just buy the next size up

but when ever i try to shrink itit always ends up shrinking length wise

not width

what im asking is is there any ways to prevent it from shrinking the length or it that just the way it is

buy xxl tall tees they look good on me and im tall and lengthy.
