hey so regardless of who you thought shouldv'e won pipe (i personally agree with the judges, tanner is the best) I thought it was pretty horrible the way the crowd treated tanner, i mean i was one of about 10 people (as far as i could see) that was actually full on cheering for tanner. Its a pretty ridiculous way to treat anybody when people are booing, and flipping him off when he was on the podium.

So NS lets set the standard and give tanner, or whoever, the respect they deserve, and grow up and quit the hole booing thing.

I can't say I'm in love with the guy or that I'm even particulairly fond of him, but he did have a spectacular run and I honestly do give him mad creds for all the practice that must have gone into it. The Judges defineatly made the right decision, even though I would have rather seen Simon take the cake but Tanner won fair and square.
 
I think it was a great thing for the sport but tanner definetly deserved it, with the technicality of all his tricks. He has also completely changed my mind about him this eyar, believe was sick, and i thin he definetly matured, old tanner might have gone off at the people that night. regardless i think we should drop this, Tanner won, its over
 
I'm sure he could care less that a bunch of people who've probably never ridden a pipe are booing him. far as he's concerned he pwned pipe, won a pow award, and is probably off to retallack to chill out and shred more pow... if I were him I wouldn't let some obnoxious spectators get me down.
 
no man, he obviously did care. he brought it up in a couple interviews, talking to his parents and at the powder awards.

why do people have this weird idea that once you reach a certain celebrity status, you turn to stone and you can shrug everything off. Tanners just a normal dude with superhuman skiing skills. It still sucks for him to get his 3rd pipe gold and have everyone booing him. Being at the top of the game for so long would be a lonely place. You have more opponents then friends. most people want to see you lose. everybody likes it when an underdog comes in and takes the win. Every superstar athlete, Tanner, Kelly Slater, Tony Hawk, Shaun White, etc. has a group of people that hate them for being so good at what they do. Its fucking retarded. Tanner raises the bar for innovation every time he competes or when he's out filming. In my mind dumont had a good run. Tanners was better. But even if Simons was a on par with tanners. Tanner gets the gold. No questions asked. He's Tanner Hall. If Simon wants the gold, hes going to have to come out, and beat tanner so bad that theres no way the judges can award him second place. And fuck it, thats the way it should be. Tanner works hard at what he does and deserves every gold medal, award or prize he gets.
 
there are how many threads on this already? what makes you feel so special that your opinion is better then everyone elses and you needed to make a new thread?
 
Why do you feel you need to berate people and accuse them of malicious intentions when they make a thread similar to what's been made before. Relax buddy. He's not trying to be better than you.
 
haha i dont think malicious was the right word. other than that, tanner is the man, i hope he continues to stop people from hating him. im not gonna lie, i used to.

show some respect, ya he's a little ghetto and his dreds are pretty gay but.... he was throughing huge both ways and he deserved it.... so cheer for one of the biggest influnces in freeskiing or shut the fuck up. but dont boo.
 
Yeah, he killed it. He also said during the Pow event that someone threw a snowball at him during his 3 run. Thats not cool. He didnt deserve that.
 
first off i just want to say that i am not a big tanner fan but he def deserved to win he had 7 hits in the pipe dumont had 5 tanner had the right side spins dumont had none as for what i think tanner kicked ass and dumont got lucky he came in second

what if you finally reached your life long goal to be a pro and after killing it (throughing a unateral 1080)you were booed. i think it would be pretty illmotivating.
 
I think a lot of people here on NS wanted Simon to win but won't admit that tanner should have one. I am one of those people but im getting over it
 
tanner doesnt get half the respect the guy deserves. I thought his run in the pipe was insane, sooo techy and i hought he deserved to win.

its not just about going big
 
everybody needs to do this. tanner just loves everything about the sport he has given so much to, and then everybody boos him. how would that make you feel if you were him. why does tanner deserve all the hate all these people are giving him?
