Sklar Active member Staff member Feb 8, 2011 #4 if you're just using it to build kickers and the like, i would suggest this one http://www.backcountry.com/voile-telepro-shovel it has a big blade D handle and the shaft get pretty long (thats what she said)

LC. Active member Feb 9, 2011 #7 Yes. This is the most heavy-duty readily available shovel. That or an Ortovox Grizzly 2 or Kodiak. Go for a large metal blade, long handle and D-grip. And make sure your friends get good ones too or you'll be doing all the work.

LC. Active member Feb 9, 2011 #8 Don't get a BD shovel by the way, they're light but very flimsy and their blades are pretty small. The Mammut one above is pretty bomber.
