shoulder injuries.

alright so 3-4 weeks ago i crashed hard in the half pipe. caught ym skis on the deck and landed face first in the middle of the pipe floor at breck.

so after laying there for 5 min. my shoulder started hurting. at first i thought i broke my collar bone because i couldn't lift my arm. however it was locked in the normal collar bone position, and my collar bone has a metal plate around it, so it'd be hard to break that fucker.

anyway, so right where my collar bone and my shoulder meet up, it kills!

most of the pain has gone away, i have about 90% of motion now. but this last little area is taking forever to heal up, and it's really preventing me from trying shit, cuz if i fall i'll go all the way back to stage one of healing. (i tried hucking cliffs 2 weeks after this happened into pow and i jsut hurt it more)

anyway so my question is, how long to shouulder injuries usually take to heal, and for those of you guys out there who have had this before. when did you get back out there and start hucking the nastys?

i started swimming and it's really improved the healing, but this one area feels like nothing is helping it. even when i swim. i guess i'll jsut take it easy and wait....although i jsut got invited yto a huck session at vail pass.....oh man, what to do, what to do?

im pretty sure i did that, fell on a 5 and drove my shoulder into the ground, it hurt like a bitch and fo like 3 days i couldnt raise my arm above like 45 degrees, it sucks, but its healing fast now it only hurts if i turn it a certain way

i gave my self some microtears in my rotator cuff a year ago, and it still hurts me sometimes... not in any major way, but its really anoying.

yeah i hurt my rotator cuff last year, didn't see a doctor or anything even though it hurt like hell, shoulder injuries are the worst and take long to heal. My should still hurts sometimes and its been a year.

I did the can't raise it about 45 deg. thing but a friend has broken both shoulders/collarbones/clavicle whatever and reinjurs nonstop. It bruses in the shape of the plate, or just a puncture bruise that you can tell there is a screw there that moved or somethin, way fucked up I feel bad for him.

I would go to the huck sess cause there is enough pow to keep throwin on the landing. I would just stay away from pipes and tables bigger than 30-40. BC booters is proly one of the safer things considering, good luck.

I hate to tell you this, but shoulder injuries take FOREVER to heal, if ever. It sounds like you tore/slashed your AC joint which attaches the acromium to the clavicle. be very careful with this! my dad did the same thing and worked out alot which stresses it (especially bench press). He had to have some of the ligament surgically removed. i would strongly recommend going to see a physiotherapist because with shoulder stuff you have to heal it just right. i also had this injury and even after years of physio i cant make fast overhand motions without alot of pain.

i've pretty much accepted the fact that neither of my shoulders (or hips for that matter) are ever going to heal 100%. sorry dude

Dude, joints never heal. Got my shoulder torn out of the socket wrasslin', Went through months of physio, two years later...guess what? Still hurts biatch! Knees, shoulders, wrists are all hard to heal, cause you are constantly stressing them. Good luck.

its either a ligament or cartilege, either way both have low blood flow which = slow healing.

I did the same damn thing a few yrs ago. It didn't really hurt that bad but after about a month I still had some trouble lifting my arm so I broke down and went to the dr. It ended up I tore a tiny little tendon which required surgery. The surgery suked ass and it's still not 100% but it's better than before. Good luck man.

I tweaked my shoulder a month ago (I've hurt it a few time) it takes forever heal, and get reaggrivated all the time. It sucks

I've got the same problem man. But just keep skiing and trying shit that's what I'm doing and when I do crash, it does go back to stage one. I just look at it as the summer is coming up and that leaves plenty of time to heal up.
