Shoulder fall - go doc?

I was lazily doing 1 180 off a baby jump in a little park this afternoon, froze mentally and landed sideways and my shoulder hurts a good bit when using the lat or tricep; the poling motion for propelling yourself hurts a lot. Would you go to a doc? (I've previously damaged this shoulder skiing {broken upper arm, lvl 2 rotator tear, and half of bicep detached})

Wouldn't risk it given you've have injuries in the same area before, especially if they're recent. If it doesn't feel substantially better in a couple of days definitely go. Until then take it easy.

I hate it when i try a 180 on a kiddy jump and break my arm.

I've had 2 shoulder injuries off of pretty small falls; frustrates the hell out of me! The last tear I had was another brain malfunction; was tired and just plopped over sideways to lay down and rest on the side of the hill and there was some metal snowmaking piping hidden under snow which I hit on my shoulder :( Thanks for the sensible advice; I'll take it easy, ice and reacess in a few days :)

Yeah, I’d probably go if it feels brutal but I would not have high hopes. One time I wrecked on my shoulder so bad I couldn’t even hold a pole up for a couple weeks. Doc took an X-ray found nothing and then told me he wouldn’t use the arm for skiing if it were him. I was like I’m skiing without poles already, thanks Doc. Anyways shit took forever not to hurt all the time. Ive had several of these shoulder injuries skiing and each time rehabbed back to even better shape with one of those iron gym pull up bars ‘as seen on TV’ lol

Buckled over a tube last year and hit my sholder. Not a big fall but i fucked my shoulder. Went to the doc and got an x ray. I had pushed s sholder bone into the sholder and clenched some tendants. Wore a sling for two weeks. How does the sholder look? Is it swollen? Is it lower than the other sholder? I recomend going to the doc. Good luck

I babied that shoulder for a couple months and it seems to be doing ok :). Broke my collarbone this morning practicing 360 slides a little too fast on another green. Maybe I should stay off green runs. I really enjoyed the past 5 weeks I got to ski; most consecutive days for me ever; I'm not bummed :)

If you're American.

If I had health insurance and it was bothering me, previous injuries to spot, I'd prolly get it checked out.

If I didn't have health insurance I'd prolly just be careful and hope for the best.

Don't die. Good luck

I haven't been to the doctor for any of my bodily injuries in years and some of them have gotten pretty bad. I usually do the ice -> take it easy -> google some pt stuff and half ass it route and it hasn't really failed me yet. By now I'm scared if I go to the doctor they'll just have so much bad news..

I can see that working out, but this one time I popped my shoulder out and immediately back in and I’m so glad I got it checked out immediately then went to PT. On paper and through the MRIs it didn’t look like much but if I hadn’t actually gone to a PT my shoulder would be frozen as hell. Got through the PT, it’s been about a year and both my shoulders feel the same, other than trying to touch my hands behind my back

I’d go, if something is wrong the sooner you deal with it the better, I just got a cortisone shot in my shoulder, feels %100, doc said tendinitis, my symptoms were identical to yours, I also couldn’t reach behind my back and touch my shoulder blades, couldn’t workout for a month, but if you have a real injury beyond a bruised bone you should know and treat it so you can rehab

I was prepared to get a plate (have insurance) but trust my doc and am gonna let it heal naturally; he said bone ends are close enough. Doc said ~85% chance of good result (will have a bump from displaced bone), and if not get plate later. Doesn't sound too bad;
