i say yes, it's pretty harmless compared to cigarattes, and less addictive, i think...

i think it should, the government is spending billions every year to stop it, and its not doing anything, legalizing it would really help the ecenomy, but i do think they should make it where u need a liscence to sell it and so on maybe an age limit or whatnot

I definetely don't think there is any reason for cannabis possession to be a felony. Personally, I don't think it should be illegal to grow for yourself.

I think it should be handled like alcohol, in that you can go to a bar, or buy some at the store. You can also make your own, but you can't sell yours to anyone. Cannabis should be the same way, or even allow people to sell 'certified' bud to people that you've grown from 'certified' seeds or something?

Also, it is so much less harmful than alcohol, and of course we're going to have people that smoke 24/7, just like we have people that drink 24/7, but I think that a person that is ripped can do things safer than a person who is drunk. I think it should be illegal to perform jobs that endanger other while you are high, and i dont think that people should be allowed to operate a vehicle while they are high. law enforcement officers shouldn't be allowed to smoke at all, until they retire.

Everyone's got to remember that it wasn't because of the THC or that people were getting too high all the time that made the US Legal System frown on cannabis. It was because mostly minorities toked in the US, almost no caucasians did, and the whole government was caucasian, besides a few others. Hell, our forefathers were growers and smokers. Thomas Jefferson, the brainchild behind the Declaration of Independence was a ganja grower and toker, he had a plantation full. George Washington planted herb at his house for smoking, too.

Legalize the Herb, or at least decriminalize it.

I'm not exactly sure of where I stand on the decriminalization issue, but as for legalisation I say no.

1. Compairing it to tobacco is not a valid argument. This is because tobacco is known to be harmful and slowly laws are becoming stricter regarding the use of tobacco. Also, tobacco does not alter the physical state of mind other than providing relief from the addiction. ie getting high will raise the chance of you getting into a car accident but tobacco will not.

2. Tobacco may be more addictive than marry jane, but chronic is an addictive substance as well, and it doesn't do much to say, well, it's not AS addictive as this other harmful legal substance. And it's been proven to be just as addictive, if not more so than alcohol.

3. Alcohol is damaging to the brain, but that doesn't mean it should be banned. When someone smokes weed, it's for one purpose: to get high. Alcohol on the other hand, for me, my friends, and family at least, drinking is just wine at dinner, a bear now and then or a couple shots of vodka here and there. This means that: we're not getting drunk, therefor we are not damaging our brains any noticable ammount, and therefor it is not an addiction. That's why weed should not be legalised under the reason that, 'Alcohol's legal, so lets legalise weed.'

4. Weed is just as harmful when smoked on a consistent basis as tobacco is. Because when smoking weed almost everybody holds it in their lungs, it leaves a lot of time for the body to not only take in the THC, but also the harmful chemicals, such as tar (causes fatigue and lung damage/cancer, destroys oxygen receptors in the lungs and lowers the body's oxygen supply over the long term) and carbon monoxide (mild brain damage in small ammounts, in larger causes loss of conciousness or death, works by binding to the receptors in the blood stream which normally bind to oxygen). Yes, tobacco does all these things, but weed does them too. It has been estimated that depending on the size of the joint, one joint can cause the same damage as 4 cigarettes to one whole carton.

5. If it was legal, more people would try it, and some of those would become addicted and suffer greater damages then if they would become addicted to cigarettes. At least if it's illigal, those that become addicted did so by going through bigger ethical questions. In other words, they got what was coming to them.

I also conclude that weed should be decriminallised, as people shouldn't have a criminal record for doing something stupid.

I read about some study where they were trying to find the effects of driving while you're stoned. They found that stoned people's reaction time is just as fast as a sober person, but they have more trouble realizing what they need to react to. I just thought I'd share that.

% concentration). i would put money on it that tobacco causes more accidents then weed. i was run into buy a girl who was lighting a ciggarette and not paying attention to the road.

Shitty quality won't happen, it's all about supply and demand. If it sucks don't buy it! Then when that company goes out of business because they can't sell enough someone else comes out with better quality. It is just like with any other product. Theres really good beer out there, and there's the cheap shit. There won't just be one type of weed.
 
And for the people saying weed causes cancer, it's actually the opposite, THC reduces the growth and can kill cancerous cells.

Should be legal. In my opinion it's more of an personal health issue. I got sent to jail over weed and all i've learned is don't caught again and don't drive with any on you.

well alcahol kills more people a year that cocane, heroine, and all other herd, very illegal drugs, so if they were going to have either weed or alcahol be illegal, i would pick alcahol. On alcahol, you cant function, but with weed, you can drive and function easily.
 
As a matter of fact, usage stays higher over longer periods time because of it's criminalized status. Upon legalization we'd see a massive spike in usage which would plateau and trail off into usage levels much lower then they are now.
