Should park skiers use poles

So I wanted to buy a new set of pole and I called a place up seeing what are the best poles that they have. The answer I got was that no park skiers use pole. I think that it all depends on who you are I've see people use pole one day and no poles the other. I've seen people only use poles I've seen people having no poles. What do you think poles or no poles ?

Well park skiers dont ski so....

But even in the park I use poles in the past 2 years I have gone no poles for probably an hour max.

Dude if you're unsure just use poles. It will help you with balance. My recommendation for poles for park is to not buy really expensive ones, considering you'll probably break them anyway. But yeah most park skiers use poles most of the time. It really comes down to preference but whoever you talked to was way off by assuming park skiers don't ever use poles. I use poles every day and every once in a while will take a park lap without them.

It comes down to personal preference, sometimes I really like fucking around in the spring taking slushy park laps with no poles but most of the time I like to have them. Also imo it helps if you're trying a new grab to ditch the poles at first

Unless you have control of your arms PLEASE use poles. You look like a fool with your arms swinging like a mad man

Just go both ways on that. Use poles when you're feeling it and drop 'em when you aren't.

All a matter of personal preference. I haven't used poles in over a year and I love it. But some homies won't leave the house without their poles. preference.

This. Personally I use poles all the time unless I'm trying new grabs or sketchy jump tricks but I don't control my arms that well so that's my main reason for using them in the park.

There is no "should" or "shouldnt".

I think the logic behind the "shouldnt" is that if you fall you can potentially compound your injury if the pole is in the way. But I really only see an issue with poles causing this is if you 1.) Literally dont know how to ski, and

2.) Are attempting a really large feature.

So as long as that's not you, you are free to choose.

I typically don't use poles if the snow is super hard or its ice. If you fall on your hand you can seriously fuck it up if you have poles.

Eh, personal preference, some people use them, some don't, I really don't think it makes a big enough difference that it will become a major situation if you go with/without them.

No poles grew on me, I'm really into it and I also remember embarrassing myself falling by running over my own pole in park so... Honestly, it's fine either way, I like to switch back and forth. Sometimes I'll go without them even if I have no plans to get into the park, it's nice.

All depends on style imo. Henrik, Phil, and Garret Russel all look natural without poles. Geopper, LJ, and Wallisch look better with em.

for actual practicallity, I find grabs way easier without poles and poles fuck up ur hands worse if you crash on them.

Personally I never use poles when I ski park but use them when I ski mountain. It's mainly just what I'm used to and I find it easier to get grabs and feel more comfortable in the air without poles.

i used poles when i first started park and it helped with balance and keeping my arms controlled but i landed on them to much and they just bend so its not really worth it after a while imo

one time last season i landed on my pole and had a nasty bruise for the rest of the month. Those things are stab wounds waiting to happen. i ditched em soon as i realized that i look like and idiot with poles shorter than my arms.

If ur using poles, make sure they are really short to reduce swing weight, make sure the poles are short enough so you dont have to bend our arms

If you have poles that don't even touch the ground when your arms are straight then what's the point of using them.

no I meant you barley even have to bend your arms im saying your pole height should be about up to your middle thigh, thats the size of my poles

Mid thigh is pretty damn short. I'd say waist or even belly button

I have hurt my thumbs with poles 90% of the times Ive fallen with them. Fuck that. It can be a little fall and it will still hurt like a bitch. The big feature thing is super justified for sure. Hitting large gaps and disasters was really sketch and uncomfortable without poles at first.
