Should Marijuana be legalized?

I want to hear intelligent reasons on whether weed should say illegal or become legalized?

In my opinion it should be for several reasons:

- Tax money going towards more important thing instead of busting harmless pot heads.

- Government could put a sin tax on it (having more money to put towards education, etc.)

- plus many more but I want to hear your reasons
 
I wouldn't have a problem with it if people just did it in their houses or somthing, but I'm sure they'd be wondering/driving around high, the streetz are dangerous enough as it is.
 
THC has been found to kill older, potentially cancerous cells. It was in the newspaper a couple months ago.

There was a huge scientific study, so it's no bullshit. Funny how u dont really hear about it though, cause DRUGS ARE BAD MMKAY
 
obviously you've been brainwashed by your high school health teacher. marijuana can be just as good for you and way better than cigarettes.
 
well the way i see it alcohol is legal and there are like 1400 deaths from alcohol poisoning each year.. while there has never been any cases of someone smoking so much weed that they died.

i read all of this one day AND you have to smoke 40 000 times as much weed as it takes you to get stoned to overdose, i think i'd be retarded if i smoked that much weed.
 
Its a stupid thing to make illgal. Its just a buzz, more people get killed driving with alchohol and thats not half as fun (based on what I understand about it, I dont smoke or drink). Its just a buzz, cigs are proly worse for your body and those are legal.

yea you havbe to tihnk of it tho...if pots illegal ok..but alcohols illegal? doesnt make sense if anything pots better than alcohol for sure. and btw i heard too that to overdoes you have to smoke a lot...something like your weight or w.e
 
yah it should be legal, its a freaking plant for god sakes. but by legal= making a tax on it and growing it in huge massive quantities then NO, i only want the highest grade natural, non-taxed weed possible
 
cigarettes are sanctioned by the government, yet they are recognized carcinogens. marijuana should be sanctioned too cause its good for you!
 
eventually it will happen, it will just have restrictions on it like alchohol, but it def should, i had an argument with my mormon friend about it and i totaly owned him and changed his perspective about it, he was one of thos guys whos like "if you smoke you're an arogant ignorant asshole!" and you know that face and attitude people put on when they realize that they were proven wrong, he was totaly wearing that shit, i was so amped i accually influenced someone to think properly, yesssssssssss....
 
Pot would no longer be a gateway drug because pharmisutical companys would produce dank bud (millions of dollors of reasearch would be put into it), everyone would go to the pharmicy to buy there shit, thus no more connection to more hardcore drugs like coke or crack.
 
not everyone drinks beer or a nice mixed drink to get drunk though. when you smoke you smoke to get high. i really wouldnt mind if it was legalized because it would still be illegal for me and almost everyone else on here becasue i am under the age of 21 (not like that holds me back haha). And to the guy who said that organized crime goes down after prohabition(sp?) this is true but you have to think about the rise in DUI related car accidents. It is innocent lives v. lives of criminals. I am sort of in the middle on this issue i guess, just trying to throw some thoughts out there.

Hells yes it should be! Why? Because it would be a hell of a lot easier to get and there would be so many strains to choose from :)
 
Yeah I definitly think it should be legalised. The only reason it isn't is because of ignorant sluts who think that they know what they are talking about but don't. All the valid research on the topic as shown that weed is harmless and in some cases healthy. Also keeping it illigal is fuling gangs and petty criminals because right now they have control of the market. If we legalised it we would basicly be putting the dealers out of buisnees, making them raise the prices on harder drugs, making it harder to get for people who don't have alot of money. Also like it was previously stated we would be able to tax it and make alot of money off of it to help out our economy. Finally if its legal and our society starts to have a less taboo view of it more people will use it but less frequently like it is with alcohol now.
 
the only way it could work is if it was like in amsterdam where u have to go to an actual establishment to get it. otherwise it would just run rampant
 
i don't know the full argument in the States as to why pot is illigal, but here's part of the reason in Canada.

The issue has been talked about by the gov't over and over, and the pros and cons are weighed as to if pot should be legal. one main reason as to why it remains illigal is because there is no definit way of testing someone to see if they are under the influence of pot while driving (among other activities).

there was one case where a young adult was driving (stoned) and hit someone and killing that person. the cops showed up and eventually they tested him for the thc level in his blood. (now, when you smoke pot your thc level spikes really high for a short period of time then drops quickly where it will stay at a low quantity in your system for a long time) When they tested him, the thc level in his blood was so high that the only why it could have been that high was if he had smoked pot while the cops were already on the scene of the accident - obviously an imposibility.

so until they come up with a way to prove (beyond a doubt) if you are actually high, or if you had just smoked pot at some point over the past couple days, they can not make it legal. end of discussion.
 
i doubt that you could find one stoner that would rather weed stay illegal than have to buy it convieniently from a store.
 
in toronto it pretty much is legal cops reaally care sure them make a couple of bust but it only really seems like its done to make people who are against it seem like the cops are doing somp about it

i think it should be legal because like anything its more fun to do things just because it the fact you are getting away with it and of course the obvious reason canada would make a shitload of money off it

i understand well the liberal party was in the only thing from preventing the legalization is there is no breathilizer of sorts for weed

its a beutiful thing i love thc

i wrote a 10 page essay on why it should be legalized and presented it to my class. so yes i think it should be legalized
 
marijuana impairs you just as much as alchohol does.. whether i think it should be legalized is not important, but if the government did legalize it they could make bank by just taxing the shit out of it... and in a way it already is legalized, ever hear of medicinal marijunana? (dont know if i spelled that right)
 
oh you mean the practice that can have you prosecuted by the federal government even if your state legalized it?
 
Yea because smoking a joint and drinking a 12 pack is the same thing. Marijuana is not even close to alcohol in the impairment department...sure it might make you laugh and wanna eat but it is no where close to the stumbling, rambling drunk who has no idea what the hell there doing.
 
Anything that artificaly alters your state of mind cannot be good for you. All the people young and old that i know smoke pot have no abitions or goals in life. Marijuana makes people lazy and unproductive. People say it is good for you but never give reasons for it being good for you, what are they, how is it good for you?
 
here is an idea. im 16 and when im 18 and i dont have to hide anything from my parents i think it will be totally different. so i think if it was legal it would be totaly different. could you imagine random people just toking up on sidewalks like it was nothing. it would be super lame if everyone was stoned all the time
 
i'm sure if it was legalized you wouldn't see people toking out on the street.. there would probably be some law against that like there is with alcohol, public intoxication and stuff like that is illegal. i think that if marijuana is legalized that the government would have to place a lot of laws and restrictions on it, i could go into detail but i'm sure all of you know what i'm getting at.
 
thats a horrible argument...not saying that burning gives you cancer, but your just as likely to get cancer...

my dad was just diagnosed with throat cancer in like feb and he smoked trees for the better part of his life, never cigs though...i dont attribute the cancer to marijuana though
 
just because you dont get tumors and cancer from it doesnt mean it is good for you. High cholesterol doesnt cause cancer but it isnt good for you. It is more harmful mentally and it kills brain cells.
