Should I try to hit my first urban tomorrow?

if i have learned one thing from skiing it would be to never let

someone influence your choices. if you're at the rail and you're

feeling good, hit it. if you're bugged out about it then don't hit it. don't

let your friend make the choice for you.

All my snowboard friends call me a skier at heart because I'm obsessed with newschoolers.

New question. Would the steeper version of the rail in the picture be easier or harder?

yeee fellow snowboarder, that rail looks soo nice, i would definitly go for it. make sure you commit to getting on the rail, and i guess do what you can to fall an the grassy side if possible. i know i ate shit a bunch of times on my first urban. i think TerminatorX has a video.

and as for the rail steepness either or would be good, if you plan on doing frontboards and / or lipside stuff i would go with the one that was posted in the pic, so you dont have to worry about vertical balance as much.

good luck man.

i dont see anything wrong with snowboarders being here, why not if they just trying to be good community members and contribute to the forum, i think it is better to have them here in general [:

my first 2 urban rails were so tiny (9 stairs), and they got me more comfortable getting on urban rails at a low consequence situation. then when i tried my first sort-of-legit (22 stairs) handrail it was a piece of cake and i never fell on it. maybe try a really small rail and make sure you know how to get onto urban rails, and once that's done, the longer rails should come easy?

I think for once in my 16 years of life I'm going to grow some balls, sack up, and just hit it. I post a video if I fall or make it.

Hahah! It's gonna be hard to decide where I'm falling. "Oh shit, I'm falling, I think I'll land in the grass instead of the cement." I think I'm going to pull a taco a couple times. Thanks for the good luck wishes though.

Harder. You are going to want to either lean back or get on close to flat. Go for the rail that isn't as steep.

Do the rail, it's perfect urban. Commit. Don't worry about what side you're going to come off. Think about coming off the end.

just do it man, remember that all the guys here on ns have your back, and id like to see a vid, it would be nice to see that rail in action [:

that rail is real easy for your first urban....we slid it last winter. idk what to say to a snowbaorder as far as tips go, but if youre gonna hit that rail, just man the fuck up its an easy one

that rail looks sick. the stairs are wide and theres grass on one side, just make sure u start out going more towards the grass and you will get more comfortable and just be on the middle. my first urban had rocks on one side and on the other side was stairs and the other side of the handrail was like 2 feet from it so you would usually catch. this one looks plenty legit. go for it man.

post up ohiosucks...with no other vids in the summer were depending on you...hopefully you were successful

truly jealous of that handrail. hit it! no doubt. if your scared about it pile up some snow on the stiars and grass on the side. uve fallen before much harder then youll ever fall on that rail. if you do fall itll be an easy fall. from 3 feet dont be scared go for it.

you know ryan? I steal queso dip and cliff bars with him at the U of Utah.

good luck with the rail.

I'll have a video up tomorrow. The video is done but I still have to uplpad The setup was slow, and I didn't want to try my first urban on a sketch setup. I'm mad at myself, but we can hit it any weekend. You can't get kicked out on weekends. I FEEL LIKE A WALKING VAGINA WITH LEGS. Make me feel better.....

Pics! I'm uploading the edit to NS right now!

Urban will always be sketch setups, so get used to it. If skiers can make it on then a snowboarder should have no trouble at all. It's a 12 stair, what is the worst that will happen?

Urban in the winter would not be near as sketch.....more speed, snow on the landing, better jump, snow on grass. The skiers that hit it had a bigger dropin. Ours was tiny (4 feet). Basically you almsot stopped on the jump and you had to ollie a couple feet while not moving. The rail was only 12 stairs, but each stair was 3 feet long........

Basically I'm not gonna say there's any excuse why I didn't hit it. I just wasn't feeling it. Here's the video.

serously, lol

yah that ramp wasnt big enough, i would have felt the same way, needed to be steeper as well(the ramp)

freeskiing and snowboarding arent enough in common? freeskiiers who dislike snowboarding are stupid. your sport would be nothing without snowboarding. and yes i relize that goes both ways but thats why there should be no hate. we basically share the same love

duddee, relax, stop generalizing

sure, some of their antics can be annoying but i know a lot of snowboarders that are really cool kids but have just made a bad choice of winter sport :D

If we had more speed and more snow on the landing (we had a whole other trashcan that we never threw down...wtf) then it would have been good for my first urban. I just can't ollie THAT high. It didn't look like alot on video, but it was a tall rail.

duuude im not saying their fags im just wondering why you would come here if you snowboard, i mean if i were on a snowboard site then i would feel awkward... some snowboarders are fags and some skiers are as well it really all depends on the person!

i think rails that are setup urban are easier when they are steeper because im moving foreward while poping up so the farther out i get the lower the rail is.
