Should I try to hit my first urban tomorrow?

Hey guys my crew is hitting a pretty long down rail tomorrow. It would be my first urban and my friend is telling me not to hit it because if I fall I'll get fucked up. I have to learn how to hit it sometime so why not just go for it. I'm not a bad snowboarder, I just usually sit around and chill instead of pushing myself and trying new hard tricks. I think if I commit to the rail and pop a nice ollie I should be able to do it. What do you think. Any tips?

You're probably the best judge of your own skill, if you're feeling it when the time comes then go for it, if not, sit this one out. It depends on how confident you are with your skills, and how well the rail is set up. Good luck either way though

yeah urbans arent too different from regular rails just jump farther down and land on the rail farther or pop up onto it

Well if youve have never his a rail in the park the urban isnt the best place to start lol. but i assume that youve hit handrails before, and if so then why the hell not, tell your friend hes a pussy and just huck it.

Is it summer for you? If it is id say pass it and wait till winter to try your first because it would be alot less sketch

I've hit rails before. Urbans not alot (in the park), but i have. I'm not great, but my friends keep putting me down and shit saying i'm not good. Oh and the friends are sponsored.....I wouldn't call them pussies.

+++ karma, great to see the snowboarders represented here.

Don't hit it if you are questioning it, would be my advice. Adrenaline is key, apprehension, well, it's your enemy!

i would say that your friends are assholes if they'r telling you that your not a good snowboarder. just because their sponsored doesnt meen that their god.

if you feel that you can handle it and show those pussies whos the boss or you can call in sick:D theres always and option

Mhm. In that case i'd rather just sesh my backyard. It's either urban or....backyard. We won't get kicked out of this urban. What's the worst that could happen on a down rail?

If its above waist height... ALOT. And if theres concrete around it which there most prolly is you can break something fairly easy

True that.

Got any pics of it by any chance? If you're comfortable go for it. If not, I'd say stick with the backyard seshing.

Similar, but this is bigger. I'm just going to decide when it's all set up. If I'm stoked as shit then I'll hit it. If I'm sketched out I'll watch my friends hit it for awhile and maybe hit it.

are you guys setting up a carpet inrun for summer urban? thats legit as hell! and, i'd say give it a go maybe wear a helmet :D

You could fall and hit your head and die, I'm sorry I had to say it. thats usually the worst thing that could happen. But you could also hit it and be fine. If you have hit some similar rails and your feel confident you should go for it. If you have not hit a rail like the one you want to urban, it might be a bad idea.

if you have the snow to do it, then go for it! and a snowboarder on NewSchoolers, that only helps the cause even more +++Karma for you [:

You should go and at least check it out and if you get there and think you can do it go for it, if not just wait til winter. And about your friends saying shit to you they're probably just trying to motivate you to do it, but if it's pissing you off just ignore it bro. good luck!

p.s.

wear a helmet

Shut up you fatass. All you must have done as a kid is sat around on the couch and ate. Why fucking start shit with me? Is it because I insulted your camera? Aweeeee I'm sorry. If this was your hill then you would sit around and chill with your buddies too.

Also a typical snowboard gaper? I'm not going to start with the amount of gapers there are that ski besides freeskiers. I'm friends with skiers, but the reason snowboarders seem to hate skiers is because faggots like you (/rant)

...why?

I thought this was a webiste where we all had one thing in common. We like or participate in freestyle skiing.

Yes it is a skiing site, but I think for the most part respectful snowboarders are welcomed by most.....except eheath.

dude that eheath guy is such a fag, every post me makes is something gay and annoying.

I'm sure he is the bitch in his group of friends (if he has any), the type of guy that people crack jokes on and nobody wants to hang out with on a 1 to 1 basis. Just look at the number of posts he's made and you can tell that he is a loser in the game of life.

do you ski at alpine valley in michigan? cus theres a place called alpine valley in michigan by where i live but i no theres other places called alpine valley in other states.

1. why all the hate? Snowboarders should be allowed on here no problem, I ride with primarily snowboarders during the season, its real chill even though we dont ride the same equipment they are still out there hitting stuff in the park and progressing their sport. Did you really have to call out eheath? Even though many people dislike him on here, that doesnt mean that he isnt a contributing member of NS...

2. There are so many alpine valley's, WI, MI, and OH all have one...it gets confusing!

3. Goodnight

Not too much. I'll show you a picture of the rail that is next to the one I'm hitting. I could hit either but I think the steeper one is a better idea.

The skier is Ryan Rudolph. Credit goes to him.

^that rail looks sick! That would defenitely be a perfect rail for your first urban, just make a solid jump and make sure you have at leats some snow on the landing...go for it!!!!

If thats the rail I saw go for it. Im the same as you bra, could definatly be better if I pushed myself harder but I usually just chill (not after this season). Show it to your friends and slay that bitch rail like it aint no thing.
