Should I Slide Rails Frontside or Backside?

I am new to park skiing and I learned to slide rails by turning backside onto them but spinning frontside feels more natural to me. I fear that this is going to make spinning off of rails more difficult. Should I learn to slide them frontside or continue with backside?

If you want to go backside or frontside got put on a snowboard. Left foot forward or Right foot forward. Pick one. Its that simple

There really isn't a "frontside" or "backside" to the actual slide - these more refer to the direction you spin out of the rail. That being said, there are lot of people who are very comfortable sliding with their right foot forward, but spin to the left, which sounds like you. It can be awkward learning that opposite direction spin at first, but you will eventually feel very comfortable with that as well. Stick with the sliding side you are most comfortable with at first - but I do suggest trying to slide both ways, this will be especially helpful with spins onto rails. Good luck!

When you say backside do you mean lipslide? A lipslide is if the rail is on the right, but you turn to the left and your tails go over the rail instead of your tips. If that's what you meant by backside then I'd focus a lot more on frontside fro now

Always been an issue to me, I spin left but sliding rails right foot forward comes naturally to me while left forward feels like death. Just pick a rail/box that's no issue for you and learn both feet forward until they feel good.

Thanks I'm definitely going to try to learn both directions!

stand with your feet shoulder width apart, get someone to push you from behind the foot you put forward to stop yourself from falling is most likely the foot you would feel most comfortable sliding with in the front. Same goes for finding your stance when skateboarding. maybe the two don't cross over im not sure, they do for me.

If what you are doing is what I think, it actually works out better when you learn to 2 on. You can spin your natural way and still slide with you natural stance forward. Same with lips. But really at least learn all the basics (270 and less) in every orientation so you have some variety.
