Should I remount to center? (++K)

I have a pair of 2011 k2 Revivals with marker griffon bindings mounted about 5.5 cm back from the core center. I feel like whenever i try to ride switch, my skies always try to spin back around.I have heard that mounting closer to center would make rotations come around easier. Would mounting closer to dead center detract from the non- park skiing?

Thanks in advance.

It shouldn't. I only have one pair of skis mounted at center and they handle all conditions probly better than they would if I had mounted them back.

No, it does not. I ski Big Mountain 80% of the time and my skis are center mounted. It has no effect that I can feel, even when skiing lines.

i have the exact same skis mounted center and it makes no difference. i had them about 7.5 cm back when i got them and they feel nearly the same. ive raced on them with center mounts and i ended up winning with a good time so u should go for it

I would highly suggest getting a center mount. You will always run into problems with rails, spins, and switch. Plus you definately wont notice the centermount after the first day, its just like a new pair of skis.

take in mind that the true center of those skis aren't marked so you have to measure, but like said before mounting center didn't effect my performance

When I got my current skis, my local shop mounted them wrong, and not center like I asked. It wasn't that far back so I just kept it because I didn't want to wait another week. About a month ago I got mine re-mounted to center and I like it better. No negatives, just positives.. keep in mind, I had always skied on center mounted so the back mount was different for me..

I don't see why not!

Go for it

Im an ex ski racer and ive had all my skis mounted back because thats how i ski. thats how the skis are designed (to be mounted back so you can work the front of the ski)

So when you spend lots of your time in the park and skiing backwards then you would want to mount it in the middle because you really dont care about carving up the groomed runs.

i would remount to center.

The only thing about center mounting is that when you hit a cliff you will go over handle bars a lot more and you have to land a little farther backseat.

stupid to mount a non symmetrical ski center, unless it is like an old ski you are gonna use for urban or something. mount at recommended

I would mount em to center. I'm an ex racer and I honestly can't tell the difference carving wise. Also rails, spins and skiing switch is a lot easier.

How the hell can you not feel a difference between center and -7.5cm?? That is a fucking huge difference between where the midsole of your boot is mounted and the center of the sidecut & flex of the ski.

The only time it really makes sense to center mount your bindings is when your ski is symmetrical in sidecut, camber, and flex. Mounting it anything but center will feel funny- you will be off the sidecut, off the center of the camber or have uneven amounts of camber or uneven amounts of rocker, and the flex of the ski will be unbalanced.

If your ski is not symmetrical and you mount it in the center, it will be just as unbalanced- you will be off the sidecut, off the intended camber/rocker profile, and the flex will be a bit off depending how far off center is from the designed recommended mounting point. If the ski was designed to be ridden off-center, what actual benefit is there to mounting it center? If anything you are making the ski ride funny and it will not help you ride switch better.

I'm all for center mounting a ski, just do it to the appropriate ski so you can maximize the design and intended purpose of the ski.

this is my first year on center mounted skis and it is sooo much nicer on rails and skiing switch. i feel like rails got a 1000 times easier as soon as i switched

Thanks for all the input guys. I think i will bring them to my local shop to have them remounted. Will mourning at core center be a good idea, or should I mount at the measured center of the ski itself?

ive skied k2's forever and i think their core center is the best place to mount. Its really not that far back from true center and will give you that park performance youre looking for, without messing with the all mountain feel too much.

I would recommend mounting at core center instead of true center for those. I did both on a pair of K2's from a few years back and the handling of the ski just makes way more sense when you are at core center as opposed to being too far up on the ski and ahead of the sidecut. I loved having a short nose and a shitload of tail, but you really don't lose much of that at core center and edge to edge its just way better. My 2 cents.
