I was at my local ski shop and the techy was telling me about the new 1080 foil boot thats coming out next year... renamed the SPK... has massive shock absorbtion like huge gel layers.... a snowboard like pull string to make sure your heel is snug in the heel pocket as well as your foot is in the boot..a massive XXXXL strap... im talking beefy here... and 2 monster buckles...so should i hold out for this boot or buy the salomon x wave 8... the SPK sounds really good to me... anyone got a price range on it.. heres the link with further details...

idk much about the spks, but i rode my friends x wave 8s for like a week and a half and didnt like them much, my heel wasent locked in at all it was shady

spk will be a "park/freestyle" boot while the xwave is an all mountain boot. simple as that. are you a park rat or you play on the whole mountain. what skis will you be on? is this your only pair of boots?

i understand were you are at. tomorrow i get in the new white scratch boot. it's a park boot and thats all it will be used for. im going to get a plug boot for racing. since it seems like you aren't in a position to get two boots, i would lean on the side of the stiffer boot if you are all mountain skiing or ever on carve skis. if not then wait for the spk

ive been holding out for the SPK since january. my toes and shins HATE ME but everythign ive seen and heard has said its the perfect boot for me. BUT all mountain performance is honeslty not key to me... because i live on the east coast and my mountain takes about 6 secs to get down at top speed.

according to people i know who have had the boot it feels like a "skate shoe"

epic

i know, i have friends that swear theyre the best boot, so i guess what im saying is just find something you like, get the x waves for now if its killin your shins and toes, then sell the boot next season and replace it with the spks if you like them more, no big deal

i have the xwave 8s, and i love them..but i do more all mtn than park, so if ur mainly in the park just wait for the spks

the spk with two buckles does hold your feet in tightly, this boot has a full lace up liner. but as posted above this is not an all mountain boot this thing is designed specifically and only for the park and urban skiing. its super comfy but doesn't ski well outside of the park. i've skied this thing on a few occasions and liked it. www.proctorjones.com will be taking pre-orders for this boot soon. the boot is gonna run about 399$ but if u go ahead and call soon to proctorjones.com they may let you use your Newschoolers discount(10% off) to bring these things even lower. give them a buzz at ~~~~~~603 888 1214~~~~~~~~~~~~
