Should I Get New Skis

Hey NS,

So I'm 6' 2" 155 lbs and growing, ski park in the Midwest and have the 2016 Icelantic Da' Nollies 170cm. I was wondering if this length would make it through this next season or should I look for a new pair of sticks? I don't really have the money for new ones so I'm hoping I can keep em.

it's mostly preference but i'm 6' and ski on 178s. the longer the skis, the faster and bigger you'll go. i recently ordered skis that are 183cm but they have a large amount of rocker on both tip and tail. i went w the bigger size as to compensate for the rocker if that makes sense

I mean it's all personal preference, no one will tell you you can't ride them. If they are in good shape keep riding them if you don't feel like they told out on you. If they feel small (they more likely will than not at your size) sell them and get a longer pair of sticks and put the bindings on them.

I'm sure if you feel like you want to move up a size (I probably would) you could get some cash from the da Nollies no problem on NS I'd bet to fund a new pair

I'd look into 180cm+ if I were you

170 cm is pretty short for someone who's 188 cm tall. I'm 5'8" and my first skis were 170 cm. They did fine for my first season and a half, but started to feel very short after that. That said, I don't ski park and was using my skis more all over the mountain.

So, I think it comes down to a few things. If you are really only skiing park, then the length might not be as big of a deal compared to an all-mountain ski, except for on landings when you might wish for more tip/tail

And then it depends a lot on your skiing style/ability. Are you new to skiing? If so, you might be able to ski them another season. But if you're progressing fast, they'll probably start feeling short.

The Da'Nollies are also soft, which isn't gonna make them feel any longer.

My advice would be to look for some good deals on last year's skis, but you could maybe make those work next year depending on you skiing style / ability.

Thanks for all the advice. I'll try skiing them the first week of the season and see how they are and then I'll go from there.

Thats super short man, you can probably tolerate them cause you are used to them, but once you get on some longer sticks you are probably gonna like them way better. If your skis are in good condition just throw them on the sell and trade thread and see what kind of offers you get. worst thing that happens is you turn down some offers.

if i were you i wouldn't buy anything less than 185. I'm 6'2 as well and i ride the 190 Icelantic Nomad 95 and its absolutely perfect.

Yeah. I recently had an edge blowout and they offered a discount on the Nomad 95s 191cm. I'm probably going to get those. Where do you have them mounted?

Sick, I'll mount them there then. I've been really happy with the Da'Nollies so I'm sure the nomads will be great
