Yup as of right now I've decided to convert to Alpine this year. I've skied tele for 11 seasons now. I just want to try something different and see if me skiing will progress faster becasue of it. I'm mostly doing it for BC booters and switch skiing of cliffs and that kind of stuff. I'm still going to have a tele set up but I think I will spent the majority of my days on alpine stuff. It's not final though. I still haven't mounted up my new PRs. Just ordered bindings and boots last night. But I'll just have to see after the first few days of the season on teles I might just mount them with tele stuff. What do you guys think should I do it. Will my skiing improve a lot. How is it in powder? I've done it some in powder but on tele stuff so it was hard to tell what it would really be like with a locked heel.

^Fuck off jackass. I already bought the stuff. I'd say buying an entire setup is a pretty big risk for some one who's so spinless. I'm not looking for approval. I knew exactly what most people would say becasue they alpine ski.

Noteefa I'm still doing the tele thing. But I'm taking a semester off of school and moving to Tahoe and I figure since I'm going to be skiing 80+ days this winter instead of only like 30 it would be fun to try something different and have two sports to work at. Of course I'm still going to tele. I grew up doing that I'm not just going to drop it.

To the rest of you thanks for the advise. I think I'm going to do a lot of teleing on the powder days and yeah alpine in the park and when we go out and build booters.

Yeah I was a little harsh too. I'm just looking for some one to say yeah go for it. Obviously this is a huge desicion for me. I've been thinking about it literally for two years and really seriously for the last few months. I was just looking for soe support from my fellow skiers.

for me in wisconsin, tele is something i can challenge myself at on my shitty little mountains. i love alpine, but on 200 vertical feet one gets bored just skiing, so im going to learn to tele on the hills. my opinon is to do what you want, and dont let any other mother suckers tell you what to do. just ski and have fun man.

I think you'll have a blast. The whole carving/angulation thing will probably be way different being locked in, you'll probably be able to learn some harder but also smoother tricks too. I think versatility is a great thing.

wow, to me, teleskiing is harder than alpine skiing when you are just going down the hill. however, I would imagine that you could get more amplitude on your jumps and have way more style when you huck and do tricks because the free heel will give you an extra boost when you take off.

DietCoke you don't 'go slower' when teleing. People who tele tend to just ski slower but that's not the case of people who are actually good at it. I ski faster than just about anyone I know.
