Should a law be made to punish women from falsly accusing rape?

Like with the duke lacrosse players, that bitch pretty much ruined their lives. And if they prosecution wins it could send people to jail for many years. I think there should be a law that if somebody falsely accuses rape and it is found out for sure that they werent raped then they should go to jail for the same time the rapist would have if he were convicted. I think the woman who accused the lacrosse players should be in jail right now.

I couldnt agree more. It pisses me off knowing that those lacrosse players were totally innocent, yet they lost so much. they couldnt go to duke anymore, they couldnt play lacrosse at duke anymore, there families lost a ton of money, and for almost a year they were labeled as rapists. i seriously would kill that bitch whore if i was one of them.

Most definitely. In fact, I feel it should be a much bigger issue that it is now. I think part of the reason it's not is because any mention that a woman might be falsely accusing someone will be received negatively, no matter what.

I'm not meaning to say rape doesn't happen, in fact it's absolutely terrible that it happens as often as it does, but there has been at least one high profile case where it was a lie. I'm sure there's an equal amount of times where it goes unreported, but that's another thread. And what if there are so many times it's false that a real victim who was actually raped isn't believed. that would obviously be a problem too.

If you're lucky enough to get proven not-guilty (a lot of guys get their lives ruined bc of this) then you can counter-sue for slander and public libel, depending on how everything happened.

This is especially true if it was an incredibly public case that got a lot of press coverage, etc. You can go for a character assassination lawsuit. There are also supreme court precedents that give common citizens (non-celebrities/public figures) some recourse when it comes to counter-attacking against the press and their former accusers once the original case has been thrown out.
