Shotgun Mics

Does anyone have any suggestions for a good shotgun mic thats under $75-100?

Are Rode Mics that good, or could I buy something else and get good enough quality?

The two that I am mostly looking at are:

and

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/363083-REG/Rode_VIDEOMIC_VideoMic_Camera_Mounted.html

They would be inputting into a Canon HF S100, mostly used for skiing, and some summer time events. Mostly what I am looking for is that I don't want to put out extra money for a Rode if the Azden (or lesser) mic will give me similar quality.

Don't expect great sound from those mics. If you're just filming

skiing, or any other action sport, it will be fine. But if you plan on

using it for narrative stuff, then it's not going to be that great. Both mics will be very thin.

Mainly it will be for skiing, but I dont want to spend money on a mic that will limit me, any other suggestions for a small, cheaper mic?

Allen has a Azden SGM-1X mic he said he would be willing to sell, but I think it may be too large for how tiny my camera will be. Any thoughts on that mic?

Yeah I can defintely hear the difference between the two, but it also

confirmed my fear with the mic, its too long for the camera Im getting

and I dont want to stay zoomed in the whole time.
