anyone know how to easily get the grips on/off my poles? i've heard something about dipping them in hot water, but i cant really remember the specifics. help will be much appreciated.
boil a pot of water. stick pole grips in. wait like a minute. take them out, and pull off the grips. they should come off easy. if not, put them back in the water. but with a hacksaw or tube cutter. then put the grips back in the water, wait again, and then bang them back on. done in like 15 min
sorry to jack this thread but i wanna do this too but i have the scott poles with the leather straps. theyre pretty worn, will they get fucked up if i put em in boiling water?
Sorry to threadjack but I had a question and it doesnt warrant a new thread..Have you guys ever tried taking off grips that are leather? I have these rossy scratch poles with a leather handle and I dont know what to do about shortening them.
Make sure the grip is nice and warm, put it on the pole, push it on as much as you can with just your hands. Then turn the pole upside down and bang the top of the grip in the ground. The heat makes the grip bigger, so as it cools, it gets nice and tight around your pole (hah)
thanks dude! + k
i tried just dry putting one on while it was warm. then once it was on i realized it was too tall compared to teh other. i couldnt pull it off haha i had to resoak in h20.
also for those wondering. dont boil the water just run you hot tap water for 2 minutes then soak the grips it really just has to be warm water for them to get loose.
