Shortening headphone cables

Anyone know how to shorten the cords of headphones.

All decent headphones come with like 6' cords and its a pain in the ass. Especially when the bundle of cord is bigger than my actual mp3 player!

Know of sites that explain it? Suggestions?

Thanks

i know what you mean, i have a minidisc with a 6 foot cord i have to wrap the cord around about 20 times for it to fit in my pocket and not have cord all over the place. i bet you could take it to a electronics place and get them to shorten it.

yea man, i have the same opinion, long cords get crazy, try adn take it into an electronics store and i bet the can replace it or make it smaller.

yeah shit pisses me off to i have the same problem

Here's another idea, buy a soldering kit. they have tons of other purposes, and it's also fun to melt stuff anyways. you could probably get one at the local hardware store, i'm sure.

ya thats what i did too sushi. don't go through the trouble of shortening, just bundle it up and tie it.

just cut the wire, expose the ends then reconnect to the pluge, u can prolly soder it or twist them to the right spots and get some tape or something and seal it up. bame u got a shorter cord

yeh u guys dont even no how to splice a wire, gosh. just expose an inch or less of wire on each side, then open em up, then stick em together, twist and tape with alot of electricions tape.

there are several small wires inside the cable...and its a pain in the ass to splice but can be done...your just end up with a slightly worse sound and a huge knob of electrical tape

Don't bother with any of this soldering malarky.

Just fold it a couple of times and tape those bits together, makesure the tape goes over the end of the fold, then you will not get the wire slipping out of the tape.

So it doesn't end up too long fold it in really big amounts then just tape where the folds are and somewhere in between so it stays together.

I hope that made sense, I know what I meant!!
