So I was coughing like crazy and i wanted to go to the doctor. I wake up early go at 8:00AM. There was a few people there but not much. So I tell the lady behind the counter that I need to go see the doctor and that sadistic son of a bitch told me that all the spots were full and that I need to come back at 3:00pm. I'm like can I reserve a spot from now then? She tells me no. I ask her how many doctor they have she told me one is in the other is on vacation. Anyone else have this problem?
 
You know, there is a lot of mystery about NHS.

How good is it?

I mean it can't be bad because it's free right? Are there seriously no doctors who you can go to?
 
I wouldn't. I would rather be able to see a doctor when I need to, which is a freedom I enjoy now fairly often. I don't want to be told where and when my tax dollars apply, I would rather do it myself.
 
There is but just not enough. From what I heard they do have doctors that are qualified but wont work because their yearly income is to low.
 
I can get appointments at short notices.

Maybe its not the lack of doctors, maybe its the overwelming people that have conditions. Maybe kill them and the doctors wll be less booked.(Extreme sarcasm)

I love universal healthcare. Sure it takes time to get tests if its not urgent. But when Im sick, im not presented with a couple of thousand dollar worth of hospital fees and I get the care I need on the spot. I guess americans will never know that feeling...
 
Unfortunatly there are 37 million people living in poverty in the US who can't just "get their money right" to see a doctor. (the population of canada is only 33 million or something.) It's great you waited less than 2 days to get an MRI but I'm sure alot of people would disagree that "Private Dr's are the greatest thing going"...
 
I live in canada, I understand the wait times are disgusting, but atleast everyone has the opportunity to be seen. Then again if you think that everyone living below the poverty line is in that situation because they are "candidates for the special olympic team." and are "listening to their middle class parents" then I don't know why I am even replying.
 
im sorry but im a canadian and have never found the wait times unreasonable.
you had to wait oh 6 hours to get checked for a cough? boo the fuck who, seriously its a cough, if you went in with a chainsaw to the face you'd be seen immediatly. a doc visit without insurance in the usa for something like that can run upwards of $500. Now im just guessing you make a lot less than $100 an hour, therefore it really is not a waste of your time, you in effect profited (through cost savings analysis)the canadian system is arguably one of the best systems in the world, yes at times there is a bit of a wait for preventative or nonemergency care, but that sure beats having nothing.

 
universal health care would suck. one i want good doctors for myself that ill pay for and two i dont wanna pay for anyone elses
 
Yea, we do have free health care, but I believe that we should have both. I have no idea how the hell that would work but if you can afford a doctor then hand over the cash, if you cant then you wait. Meh, I dunno and dont really worry about it. Where I live (Barrie, Ontario) our hospital population isn't too crazy. My dad got mad sick 2 months ago, waited in the emergency room for 8 hours, but was given a room immediately after being examined. I cant complain.
 
Ahh good man. Get into a trade. Thats what I'm doing. Hopefully become either a carpenter or plumber. We'll see how things go.

people get unlucky and are born into shitty situations. yeah mostly everybody in AMERICA at least has the chance to better their lives. but its people like you who don't give a fuck about our lower class society that contributes to making it even harder for those people to prosper.
