Is it just me or are alot of people riding retardly small skis? I go to A Basin and see so many kids that are my height (5'9") and rockin like 160's and 165's I don't get it. Any one else see this or know why people do it?

well when i bought my first pair of skis ( wich was last season, yes im a noob) i was like 4'9" and bought 150 cm line chronic minis ( yes chronic, not invader) and now i am 5'2" and im kind of excited that my skis are short for me now because i think i will learn 540's easy this year, last year i could only get as far as 360's

if all they do is ride park then there is nothing wrong with getting shorties...

but for most of us, we also love the pow pow and thus shorties just arent practical...

I'll spin just as fast as any of you people on short skis, trust me; first spin of the year was a 540 off of some little mogal humper at the basin, if you cant spin with long skis you wont be able to with short ones. Longer skis are faster, more stable on landings and at higher speeds so they're alot better for jumps. better edge hold for all mt.

true but i would bet 171 ski would be best for you if you like shorter skis, cuz they would hold up better all mountain.

Longer skis are way more stable, especially on jumps. With short skis I feel like I'm going to fall on my face all the time. Haha, grow a pair and man up. Eh, but it's all preference, so do what you want and have fun on the hill.

your eyebrows? i have 176's and armadas have longer nose/tail then most and they're just to the top of my head.

The problem with short skis is the claimers who huck themselves to see how far they can spin and then shove it in everyones faces. Ex. Kid at my mountain is 5'3" and rides 140s so he can spin faster. It also turns out that hes the most coccky kid at the mountain.

meh im 5'7 and ride 171's and dont find it any harder to spin then on short skis...when i huck on short skis i just end up going off axis...

Lighter than longer skis, you have more control, you look at the pros normally ride 181s but for big air they ride skis in the high 160s low 170s

i guess he got a custom graphic made for x games big air so it looks like a 181

you're a retard pros dont ride small skis.

yeah im 5'6 and i ride 186 and 179

so much easier to ski a long ski thats mounted forward

You know I wouldn't really worry about what length skis other people are riding on. They're not on your feet. And what makes you the authority on ski lengths? They can ski whatever length they want, it shouldn't really concern you. I don't know why you would care what size someone's skis are.

The thing with this site is, majority of poeple DONT ski powder. I know, I know, it's hard to believe, but somehow they manage...

im 5,4' and i ride 150s haha no those are just for when im fooling around.i ride 165 and 90 at waist and thats perfect size enything smaller for pow is retardeed

im considering getting a used pair of shorties just to progress more with spins on and off boxes etc...im 5'2 on 169s right now though and my soon to be seths will be 179s oh yes. size does matter! muhaha

my new skis will be a lot heavier/longer than my old skis so they will be heavier compared to my weight. so...

Am i lying to myself that i will be able to balance on rails easier since my center of gravity is lower cuz of the heavier skis???

Im 6'2 an was stuck on 165s for the past 4 years cuz i couldtn afford new skis, now i have 179s for the park an i love their feelings so much more, im not anygood, still just gettin started in the park but i feel a lot more comfortable on longer skis, picked up 189s for the pow an im so excited to get on em
