Shop Says I'm Missing Toe Plates...

I sent my skis to the shop to get mounted, and the mounting technician called me and said I'm missing toe plates or spacers for under my toe pieces. My question is will this be a problem for my riding? Since there are heel plates that have to be mounted, it would put the binding at a slant and I wonder if this will affect how it releases and such. My second question, is what are some alternatives I can use to fit under the toe piece, assuming that I absolutely need a plate?

I probably worded my problem like shit, but If you get what I'm saying help is much appreciated

are you missing the sliding afd plate, or the plate your entire toe piece sits on? If its the afd you def need it as its is part of releasing. if its the plate the toe piece sits on you will be ramped which will be really annoying.

****DO NOT DO THIS!!****

I work at a shop. Under no circumstances would I ever recommend doing this but I just mounted a pair of skis for another employee and myself with a pair of Axial 2's he had in a box in his basement. When I got to the last heelpiece I noticed that the bottom piece was gone. After about 2 hours and a trip back to his house to look for it I just said fuck it, grabbed a 9mm Wax Scrapper because it was about the same thickness, drilled the holes through it then put the heelpiece on top of it and mounted her up. After a day of skiing its worked quite well but looks super sketch.

If it's one of those lifter plates, just ask them to mount the skis without it. It really doesn't matter at all.

If they mount it WITHOUT the plates that youre supposed to have, the might drill the screws through the base of the ski. Call the shop and ask them if you mount the binding without the plate, if the screw length will be appropriate

This. I had similar problem i used my highschool wood planner and just made a baseplate outta maple

Yes, you are most likely missing something very important and if you mount the binding without it, you will put the screws through the base. And then if your heel has the riser but your toe does not, then your boot will sit funny in the binding and probably cause some sort of release issue.

listen to your shop tech here and make sure he has/gets the right parts to your binding.

Hey guys, thanks for the responses. Here is what I can respond to:

The bindings are old look px 14s

The plates I'm missing are just the spacers from what I can tell

I can't mount the heelpieces without plates because of the screws and the fact that the heel plates contain the sliding adjustment thing.

I've been talking to the shop this week and they said they'd look around for me, but I doubt they'll find any alternatives. Is there any way for me to buy plates for old bindings? Thanks for all the help guys, + k

My shop mounted my PX12s, that originally came with the lifter plates, without them. They just used shorter screws, which you should be able to get from the manufacturer (but maybe not if they're old enough).
