Shop rant

This is kinda long...

I went to a shop to night. i won't mention which one, but it was a terrible. Went in with my Motherships and my p12s to be mounted, but the first thing i wanted to look this years new skis. All the sales kid would talk about is how my moships are crap cause they're a capped ski, and how i should spend a ton of money on getting a ski with a sidewall. I ignored the comments and went to setup my bindings. The first there was some debate on where i should mount them, and the only tool available was a tape measure with inches. Not really a big deal, but once we got that figured out they reminded me that i should have brought my boots in. They said I would have to drive 54 miles round trip and bring my boots back and leave them there for 2 days. I said oops, can you use a new boot for the jig and then do the torque test with my boots when I come to pick them up and save me 54 miles of driving? They said that they wouldn't have time do do a torque test on a monday or tuesday between 10am and 2pm. Does a torque test really take that long? I mean I'm complaining because it's 54 miles round trip to get there, and I'm willing to hang out in your shop for an hour during the middle of the day and look at shit while you find the time to do the final torque test. The guy said he had to drive 20 miles to work there so I shouldn't complain. Yeah buddy you drive to go work there to give me service. What do you want a cookie? The only reason i go there is for your "great" service, which you obviously can't do. They said that they were to busy with mom's buying Christmas gifts. Well how many times is mom gonna come back next month, cause I sure won't. Last year I bought new expensive boots and a jacket at your shop, and had some skis mounted (which by the way still have lifters on them even though i ordered short screws). If only I could get my skis mounted online, because it's the only place I'm getting anything from now on.

your shop sounds bunk man. we would never do that shit. as long as the boot has the same sole length, most shops are cool about that. and pressuring sales never works...never!

god damn i hate those pushy sales people. after selling skis myself, i hate them even more (especially a lot of reps, not all, but wow... oh my god they can be bad).

but a torque test takes... um... 3 minutes? 5 minutes max, depending on the person working it. So long as the boot sole is the same length, it shouldnt matter. infact it would give the most accurate test (because most boots get worn down like crazy). sounds like you got some messed up people there.

that's when you say "screw you, I'm driving 100 miles round trip to give my business to another shop." was it by any chance a ski market??

well its only 54 miles round trip, but it was THE independent shop in my state, and seriously I've dropped a guap there over the years cause i want to support that shit. One of by buddies works at a Dick's and he said the guy there can do it while i watch tomorrow afternoon.

fuck nigga. slap dat guy in da face an teel im ta stop beenin a byotch. dat shyte is gonsta cost a shyte tun of doguh in gas an shyte.

How about you SHUT THE FUCK UP.

If you're all pissed about torques tests and all that bullshit, blame your sue-happy, everyone-has-three-different-lawyers-on-retainer-at-all-times society, because it's your own god damn fault liability is such a fucking bitch.

damn, i agree. gay shit like that happens at shops around where i live too. i only buy shit online now, and then go to the shop to have them mounted. and then i engrave on their fucking forehead what a center mount is, and then they still fuck it up.

Sounds lame about the high pressure sales...But you should have remembered your boots. Legally, if it isnt your boot, the shop can be sured if you get fucked up.

hum that sucks my shop does mounts while you wait and tests while you wait a mount and a test may take 8 mins from start to stop if you take your time...

my local shop wouldn't bend out my brakes and instead tried to sell me a pair of sollys with a wider brake. It was that or go to rei, fuck em all. Now i drive 3.5 hrs to my old mountain shop to give my core buddies the work. Best workers and mouting money can buy, oh and by the way its like 30bucks cheaper than the crap ass super store shops.

dude, you've gotta remember your boots, the shop is legally bound to mounting your bindings with the boots youll be usuing. If it was 54 miles, think twice before you leave home. And punch snotty sales kids in the kidnies.

next time don't forget your boots ya dumbass, I wouldn't have mounted your shit either

unless you tipped me a 10 spot, then I woulda done it right there while you were waiting
