Shop Question

Do you guys think if i called a shop that I wanted to buy some skis from and explained to them that another shop has the same skis for a few hundred less that i might be able to get them to price match or at least lower their price? Especially since the season is nearly over in some places and some of the 2009 gear is already for sale?

Why dont u just buy them from the shop that has them for 100$ less?

because i would like to support the other shop as well as order something else from them and consolidate it into one order

well the issue is that that shop doesnt have my size but has a better price and they also dont have the other stuff i want. Could someone who works in a shop help me out?

most places will match price if it's the same exact ski...meaning same year same size...

so how would i go about asking them to price match or at least asking them to lower their price?

you should just show them the lower price and ask them if they match prices...but if the lower price is off of a web site, they might not match. Ive had a few shops who match prices from other shops in the area, but no websites.

well, i just found a place that has a decent price that might be willing to negtiate

yeah just tell them that you would have bought from the other shop because of the price but if they match that price you would rather buy from them to give them business

All the sops I have worked in, including ken jones in NH, will call the competitor you present and ask if they have the same size and model. If said shop does not have the requested size then no deal, but they usually budge a little anyway.
