Shop mounted bent chetlers wrong

another "my shop mounted my skis wrong thread". i took them in to the shop, told them exactly where to mount them, and put a piece of tape where i wanted them mounted with an arrow and the words "mount here". instead, they chose the recommended mount point.
first things first, i am definitely going to complain to the shop. i already know this.
my flight leaves thursday to utah. i'll be out of town all day tomorrow. basically, i have zero time to remount these before i leave. would you:
a) remount where i wanted them when i get to Utah. IMO this decreases the value of the ski putting another mount on it and i'll lose at least a day on them.
b) suck it up and ski at recommended. i've read these things have a tendency to wheelie so that's why i'm not all that stoked about the recommended mount.
any input appreciated thanks in advance

take them into the shop and have them remount on the spot, They messed up, They owe you.

Its not like it really takes long to mount skis, and they should be able to do it.

they will ski best at recomended(5 back from true if im not mistaken). if your having issues with them washing out on the tails then you need to not suck and stop landing back seat , its just that simple. but do complain to your shop, chances are they will give u some sort of compinsation. and it only take 10 min to mount a pair of skis if the tech isnt't an idiot and they have a jig on hand

what mountain are you going to?

alta has the sickest shop crew and they will definatley hook you up with some dope demo skis while you get yours mounted correctly, i was there and someone i was with lost a rental ski and they just helped him lie to his insurance company and gave him a new pair no problem.

IMO get them mounted where you want them and rent some skis for like $50 one day.

their jig isn't wide enough, it already took them 4 days to do it wrong the first time without one.
where i wanted them mounted was really only 3ish cm ahead of where they are now, i just feel like i actually took the time to read reviews and get some recommendations on mounting point and now it doesn't matter

4 days? even without a jig it doesnt take that long. my shop can do a free hand mount in 45 min. just give the tech a 6 pack

they were probably busy with all the gaper rentals over the weekend and didn't really get to it until yesterday or today, i don't think they get many freehand requests in this part of the country so it takes a little longer

we'll be all over the place, probably wont make alta bc of the snowboarders in the group but i might do this anyways

i see what you mean, if you get the chance to split up on a good day though it is definatley worth it

take em to a different shop. my shop jacked my chetlers up so i had to have em drilled again. but at least now they are right.

My shop did this to my Donner Parties. They bought me a brand new pair, which surprised me because they were 08/09. I wanted them mounted at recommended, but they decided to go 3 cm back.
On a side note, they kept the old, mismounted pair. They slapped a pair of shit bindings on them and are now trying to sell them for $600 when I paid $485 for the same setup with Peak 12s. Someone could definitely call them and haggle them down to something reeeeeeeally cheap. PM me if anyone wants the shop info for a cheap pair of DP's.

So maybe I'm an idiot and have no clue what I'm talking about, but

I always thought the mounting point corresponded to the boot center. if I wanted a center mount, the boot center would be above the ski center or if I wanted recommended the boot center would be directly above the recommended line

This guy says that he mounted to the point I gave him with the template from marker

(small dukes) and as a result the bindings are where they are now. This puts the

boot center almost directly above the recommended line (or 3 cm behind where I

thought they should be mounted.

which one of us is clueless here?

i wouldnt remount before going to shop they probly woulndt belive and crap like that just ski with them the way they are and then bring in and get them fixed!

so i go to the shop, dude swears up and down he mounted off the line i gave him. wow i figured out just how retarded. OK, marker provides a template to install the binding... it shows where to put the holes based on your BSL. even I can figure this out. the guy figures out he needs to install it where the template is showing a 275 (BSL), because i obviously i have a 27.5 size boot. from the template, his mount is off by 2.2 cm. what a dumb fuck

and all he could do was say he's been doing this for years and he knows what he's doing and they're at the right spot.

there is no way you wear a 27.5 boot and have a 275 bsl. i wear a 28.5 and i have like a 325 mm bootsole

haha ohhh. now i follow. yeah, never ever ever go to this shop again. once they fix you up with some sort of compensation that is.

I would say try them at the mounting point before you remount or go in before you use them and tell them they owe you new skis basically due to the effects that a remount has on a ski and get them where you want.
