Shooting with GoPro at night?

Don't hate I've searchedbared it and nothing helpful came up. So i was wondering if it would be smart to film r5 (1080p) with my gopro and night because the quality would help improve certain settings like exposure and stuff to look better at night.
 
gopro's do not work at night, unless you have a shit ton of light being thrown on whatever you are doing, but more often than not you will get nothing
 
If you are skiing at a mountain at night, it will work, if you are doing urban, its a no go unless you have a shit load of lights.
 
Gopros are basically useless at night unless there is a lot of light like at a ski hill night skiing. Dark spots though will fuck it up though.
 
my mountain is pretty well lit. plus i just want to use it because i just got it yesterday and im night skiing tommorrow
 
I go proed the hot tub at jackson hole. we got some sick shots. way better then any camera you wan buy. Go pro is super sick. My shots are better then any movie that you can watch. You all suck dick. Im so cool
 
pretty much re-iterating what everyone else has said.I've seen some Go Pro edits from night skiing and if there is good lights on your mountain it should be fine.
I tried t use it for urban with just street lights and it was literally just black. have to remember its a $300 camera so theres only so many things it can do.Maybe they'll somehow to do a firmware upgrade for ISO, not sure if its possible
 
sorry for the dub post, but i remember hearing if you are shooting in the dark that you should use 30fps instead of 60fps as that lets more light in or something along those lines!
also, using a headlamp of some kind would be a cool idea, lways though about trying that.
 
im not planning to really make an edit and stuff with this footage its just i just bought my gopro and have been really anxious to use it and im going skiing tonight
 
I've used my go pro at night before and the shots turned out fine.

Like every camera, you want good lighting (duh) and also you should turn spot meter exposure on.
 
I saw this thread and decided too test it out at night, I shot at 30fps at 720p vs 60fps to let a FUCKLOAD more light it. And shots do get a bit of ghost nor are they perfect perfect but it definitely exceeded my standards. It does great too be honest I mean it does great for a $300 pocket sized camera. I'll try and post a test clip to show you.
 
Im back from the hill and i tried it the night.. we see something but 40% of the shots are not good.. but it's ok camera quality is sooo good in the day
